  1. I believe Gibson/Epiphone neck breaks are usually in the nut region. My son snapped his Epiphone Casino headstock at the nut but £80 repair and it was better than ever.
  2. In 50 years of playing I've never broken a neck and nor have I ever been hindered by a bolt-on.
  3. That was six and a half years ago and I no longer have any of those instruments nor the settee.
  4. If you drop a Fender down a flight of stairs it might need a new neck but chances are it won't need a new neck and might even still be in tune.
  5. There are plenty of timewasters but also ... We were moving house, downsizing, and we had a very nice oak desk that had to be got rid of. We had failed to sell it at a fair price, so it went on Facebook for £25 if 'you take it away before the weekened'. A woman arranged for husband to collect in his van. Guy turns up, in the dark, and gets desk in van. He gives me thirty quid and says 'keep the change, very nice desk'. Half an hour later woman rings up and says, 'that desk is worth way more than £30, I'd like to give you some more money?' After a brief chat Mrs ET and the woman agree a further £75 to a homeless charity. I don'y actually know for sure that the £75 was paid to charity but i'd like to believe it was.
  6. These are lovely basses. I don't know why I sold mine. Well, I do know, but I don't like to think about it.
  7. I'm crying in disbelief at £40K for a table.
  8. Better tone, better feel, YMMV
  9. So, if you were to go up there, play the fill or execute the motif, and then quickly get back down your own end. There's a job to be done.
  10. Wouldn't a Les Paul bass have a set neck and not be neck through
  11. It's not only the neckplate that's curved. Here's a better pic. And I was only comparing it to an Elite Jazz heel posted earlier.
  12. My 2006 American Deluxe Precision had something similar. I don't know if it worked because I never went up there. Welll, once maybe, but I got dizzy.
  13. See above ...
  14. Very good. Thanks.
  15. There's a lot of wasted energy and time in the way those fingers are being lifted so far away from the fretboard. YMMV.
  16. If you need one of those you must be playing bridge cables instead of bass strings.
  17. When using 1-2-4 (or Simandl), you can use fingers 3 & 4 together as a pair. 1FPF on lower frets is both unnecessary and uncomfortble for most players. And don't forget open strings - there are four (or perhaps more) notes that are easily available in any position with no left hand fingering required.
  18. Agreed the pickguard is too white. I took mine off completely.
  19. Is that a replacement control plate?
  20. I have the cheapest Hofner Club Bass with Pyramid Gold flatwounds. Fully hollow, 4.9 pounds and sounds great.
