1.
Nothing spotted yet but i live in hope that the South West England Tourist Board will soon have an advert on TV with a nice song containing slightly rearranged lyrics along the lines of 'Stairway To Devon'.
'... or Stannah Stairlift to Heaven.' Page and Plant could be making loadsamoney.
 2. I'm going to make an announcement at my next gig: 'Please stop dancing and instead watch me not using a music stand'. Actually, perhaps I won't bother because normal audiences really do not care about music stands one way or the other.
 3. When it comes to necks, the supposedly perceived difference is commonly put down to fingerboard - usually maple versus rosewood - rather than actual neck wood.
 4. No good reason. Even in the neck, the type of wood makes less difference than many many other things like strings, pickups, amp, fingers, pick etc etc . Someone will be along in a minute to disagree totally with what I have said.
 5. Music stands? That's disgusting, next thing you know some people will be using frets.
 6.

At 17.37 or so, Rod Stewart introduces Miss Judy's Farm saying 'it goes like this, very similar to this anyway'.
 7.
.... a bit loose and like it could all fall to bits.
They used to get introduced at some live shows as 'Ladies and gentlemen, the Mateus Rose Wine Company presents ... THE FACES.'
 8.
I would say this one finger thing is more of an urban myth. Jamerson was a trained double bass player, he would have needed slightly more than one finger. I am quite sure he used what ever fingers he required at the time.
Commonly (though not always) upright bassists use just the index finger.
 9. It also looks like a very light touch, no lifting the finger away from the string before stroking the string.
 10. I played through a Marshall 100watt valve head and two 4x12"s stacked at a rehearsal room recently. I didn't particularly like the sound. I certainly wouldn't buy or use for gigging.
 11. One finger playing was common and is not a limitation as long as you can play the line. One finger may be funkier. There have been many one finger or mostly one finger players. Watch Jack Bruce with Cream. Especially common amongst upright players converted to bass guitar. Tim Comerford talking about Geddy Lee and himself: 'When I'd go see Rush as a kid, I would wonder why Geddy Lee used one finger all the time. Did he do that because it made it easier to play while he was singing? I didn't get it. Later I realized that if you're just riding a note or trying to play a real straight part, it sounds more pulsating if you play with one finger. So I took every bass line and learned how to do it with one finger, and I started doing it that way as much as I could. Back then I thought I looked goofy, but now here I am using one finger whenever I can. One finger is ultimately the funkiest sound of all. If you can do it with one finger, you should. If you can do it with two finger, you should choose over three.'
 12. There's no copyright on bass lines or chord sequences, just melodies and lyrics and that's often unenforceable. Very little is wholly original. Don't borrow, but steal and make it your own.
 13.
I still prefer Flamenco WITH dancers and WITHOUT basses.
That's what Mrs ET said.
 14. Presumably
Is it the one in your pic?
I imagine so but it appeared now to be missing the pickup ashtray.
 15. Well, I saw the bass from the corner of my eye but the whole show was totally annoying and I won't be watching it again.
 16.
Tonights one show, I was only half watching to be honest.
What channel is that?
 17.
Just watching there's a nice looking White P don't know if they've spoke about it though...
Is that on a TV programme? Is it actually Elvis's?
 18.
Calling essential tension.....
Helloooooooo
 19.
Thankfully, none of the above are in our set..
Ditto.
 20.
... I've heard that flatwounds are higher tension than other strings, and this can pull at the bridge ...
Some are higher tension, some aren't. I don't think the bridge is going to be a problem but if you're worried use some lower tension flats like TIs or black nylons from D'Addario or La Bella.
