  1. Actually those Gus basses have grown on me, although I still wouldn't buy one.
  2. Maybe ... but I couldn't eat a whole one.
  3. In the late 1970s I was in a band with a guitarist who played his Les Paul through a WEM PA40 and sounded great. GLWTS
  4. I've got to say that if I was spending that kind of money on a bass it woudln't be a Fodera, which doesn't appeal at all.
  5. I very nearly complained myself, but I hope I just about got away with it.
  6. Posts complaining about other people complaining are always a pleasure to read.
  7. On the other hand, the most interesting lines are often made by people who do know what the f3ck they're doing.
  8. My grandfather used to say 'If you can't fight then wear a big hat.' But he always wore a flat cap.
  9. One day, many decades ago, in maybe 1980, I was walking down the street wearing a grey trilby. A man stopped me and said 'Why did you buy a hat like that when instead you could have spent your money on drugs?'
  10. Never have and not expecting to do so very soon.
  11. Fela Kuti ought to be in any Hall of Fame.
  12. Most people don't even know it's a bass guitar. Anything with strings my father called a banjo and anything you blew into he called a trumpet.
  13. Surely the question ought to be: 'Am I good enough to play a cheap piece of sh!t and still sound great?'
  14. Scale length = 2 times the distance from fingerboard side of nut (or centre of zero fret) to centre of twelfth fret. Distance of bridge saddles from nut (or zero fret) will vary slightly from scale length (as given above) due to differential of intonation on each string.
  15. Very nice, but I say keep the tort.
  16. More what you might expect and very nice too:
