1.
Bass is an aria zzb deluxe similar to one below and strings being fender superbass nickle 45-105. Cheers guys
I'm unfamiliar with that bass and with those strings. Maybe someone else will know,
 2. Django's long but damaged fingers: I've known excellent players with short fingers and stubby hands generally, and average players with long fingers etc. There's more to it than having a certain kind of physique.
 3. The tuner end of a La Bella is tapered. I still think La Bella might send a suitable replacement if you ask them nicely.
 4. In principle fine but it does depend on things like distance from bridge to tailpiece etc. and actual length of string between silks. So what bass and which strings?
 5. Sold Will a small item in a straightforward and easy deal. Recommended.
 6.
... I shouldn't like it...
Why ever should you not like a bass? It makes no sense, it's just a bass.
 7.
But no-one's using steel violins, are they? It's still the 300-year-old Strad that is most desirable. If a bit expensive. 'Steel Violins'... sounds like a chick-flick.
Yep, I'll be dead before it happens. But the violin comparison is only partially appropriate because those Strads are acoustic instruments unlike this bass.
 8.
Im not wholly convinced by this. http://www.premiergu...-future-of-bass
By the time that takes over I will be dead, thank God.
 9.
I have some flats that I got with a bass and have no idea what they are. Bright red tape at both ends and brass rings t the bridge. Any suggestions?
Do you mean red silk? Thomastiks don't have brass rings.
 10. Ordinary La Bella Flats are not suitable for through body stringing:
This particular set is NOT suitable for through-body basses. Please refer to our “Thru-Body” Flat Wound sets (e.g. 760FS-TB) for through-body instruments.
But if you ask them nicely you may well get replacements.
 11. No matter how low your strap, you'll never be as cool as this duck.
 12. Have you tried this Chris? http://www.quinnviol...gidsearch.shtml
 13. Same height on your body with bass on strap and standing up as sitting down and bass on thigh. Anything else looks totally uncool. YMMV.
 14. and Bop Till You Drop was a very common demo disc in hi-fi shops in 1979/80.
 15.
Switch the editing mode (top left of the reply box) and you'll have no problems.
What does it do? I can't see any difference.
 16.
My apologies ET, i misunderstood. My PSVI was buzzing ever since i bought but the luthier i took it too did some work on the nut and set it up really nicely. He said that he couldn't eliminate all of the buzzing but it sounds so much better than it did.
I haven't really got buzzing but I still haven't got the relief correct or the action where I want it. May be the nut needs some work but I'm also starting to think I might need a shim. I'll get there in the end even if it does take a trip to the luthier.
 17.
Been playing guitar 40 years and bass 6 or 7 and just found out that I know virtually nothing about about strings....ie different materials, tensions, lengths blah blah. How could something so basic to playing escape me? Anyway I have a 78 rick 4001 strung with medium flats that is a dream to play but the Rick sound is not for me so I am letting it go but love the strings and thinking of putting heavy flats on my MM SUB. I love the sound of the MM but I keep it strung with heavy high tension wound strings (don't ask). Thinking of putting heavy flats on the MM. Would I still get the same sound and action from the flats on the MM? I am pretty skint at the moment so can' t afford to go experimenting with different bass strings.
What are you trying to achieve? If I'm reading you correctly, you seem to want to put flats on the MM and yet have it sound the same as it does with rounds. That is unlikely to happen.
 18.
I have no idea what you are talking about.
Storky said he was having some buzzing problems; I said so was I; you said your luthier fixed it; I said perhaps I needed a professional, i.e. professional luthier, too. That's it.
 19.
How much have the new bridge and vibrato unit added to the price?
Staytrem bridge was £65 and tremolo unit was £45, so quite a lot as a proportion of the price of the Squier itself (i.e. £270). But if you think of it as as Bass VI with a proper bridge and locking tremolo unit for around £370 or so then you might think it acceptable as long as you aren't going to resell it immediately.
 20. Poor pictures but ... with black pearl pickguard, Staytrem bridge and Fender Jaguar locking tremolo unit
 21.
... fret buzz/bridge alignment is still work in progress.
Still a work in progress here too.
I had a fret buzz problem with my PSVI when i bought it but after my local luthier worked his magic on it it's been fine.
Maybe I need a professional on the job.
 22.
Really fancy a Squier more than the pawn shop one, I'd like the traditional pick-up config. However I really don't like trend and would have to swap out the rear plate for one with a lock. Is there routing where the lock is? If so I assume they haven't bothered routing it as they've installed the basic flat plate. Anyone done this?
The Fender Jaguar tremolo plate with the lock is a simple direct swap - the routing is there.
 23.
You'd understand if you used one, really.
No, I wouldn't.
Sure, playing bass all the time will gradually make you stronger. However, using a training aid like a gyrpscope will make you much stronger, much faster, and in a way which meets the physical requirements of bass playing. This is not a replacement for bass playing. It's a means by which to gain some physical advantage. I've been using a gyroscope as a conditioning aid for rock climbing for the last 5 years or so, almost daily. A gyroscope will give you forearm, wrist, and grip strength that playing bass simply wont.
It's bass playing not rock climbing. Bass playing simply does not require forearm, wrist and grip strength in the way you portray it.
