1.
Also there is a guy calling himself Bon Giovi, apparently that JUST different enough to avoid the lawyers!!!
Jon Bon Jovi's real name is John Bongiovi.
 2.

Very nice.
 3. For solo practice acoustic bass guitars are fine. If you are going to play with anyone else at all, even one acoustic guitar, you will need to be amplified - upright basses are the size they are for a reason.
 4.
... When I teach him a part to a song he can play it fine on his own. But then when i play the guitar part he either loses his way completely. or he ends up changing to the rhythm of the guitar rather than holding and playing his own rhythm ....
This says to me that he doesn't really, deep down, know the bass part. If he did know the bass part then he'd stick to playing the bass part and wouldn't start playing the guitar part. It's as if the guitar part that is actually happening now is more powerful than the memorised bass part because the memory is not as strong as it appears when there is nothing to interfere.
 5. I rather liked the gold colour too. I had a red one of these as my very first bass. I resprayed it purple metallic.
 6. That sounds like it needs a set up of truss rod and bridge saddles.
 7. If you do want to remove the fretmarkers (i.e. lines) rather than defret as above, then the real answer is a whole new fingerboard.
 8.
My fantasy Glastonbury, would be to get rid of the huge muddy fields and to be able to see all my favourite bands in a good sub 500 capacity venue with a well-stocked bar.
Yes, and snacks.
 9. So, Chris Squier plays a Squire would be totally wrong in every way?

 11.
Anyone had any experience of these yet?
No, but I'd like to.
 12.
Today I received test pressings for the forthcoming Terrortones single. We wanted to get 3 tracks on the 7" single and a specific running order which means that the A Side is just under 3 minutes long and the B Side has two tracks and is just over 5½ minutes long. Both sides have been cut at the same relative level even though the A Side could be louder as there is plenty of spare space. Is this normal? I've looked through what is left of my vinyl collection to try and find pressings with very different length A and B Sides to see what has been done in the past. I used to have lots of singles with 2 tracks on the B Side but they all appear to have gone. I'd much appreciate it if anyone can tell me what is the best practice for this. Should both sides be the same level or should we make the A Side louder (because we can). I'm tempted to make the A Side slightly louder just so it has a bit more impact. What do the recording gurus think?
I'm no recording guru but I definitely say louder.
 13. TIme for this thread again already? Time flies. I like Fenders.
 14.
yes, but for what i know the pickups alone are not for sale...
Yes, I heard that too.
 15. So, it's probably correct that Guild (i.e. FMIC) are having the Bisonics re-engineered in Korea.
 16.
From what I understood, yes. Which seems amazing, as the new Starfire bass is fairly affordable considering the retail value of a separate CN Bisonic.
That's why I had thought that they had reverse engineered it in Korea to get the price. But also there's a youtube clip, which I can't find at the moment, where the Guild guy says they bought vintage instruments and sent them to Korea to be reproduced.
 17.
Curtis Novak is now making Bisonic pickups. They're in the new Guild Starfire Bass too. http://curtisnovak.c...ups/BS-DS.shtml He also makes one that fits in a Gibson mudbucker housing!
Is that definite? The new Guild Bisonic is being supplied by Curtis Novak?
 18.
... the result of a poll involving 10,000 people ...
There are 10,000 people who know what a bass line is?
 19. Looking good. I like the reverse headstock.
 20. At least I had some familiarity with about half of them. I must get out more.
 21.
According to Ringo's book 'Postcards From The Boys', the one above was sent to him the day after the Apple rooftop gig by McCartney, not Lennon. I'm not sure what that says!
Then, we must presume that Ringo is correct.
 22.
That would fit with the St. John's Wood post stamp.
And with the date stamp.
