1.
Doesn't Pino play a fretless P? Not 100% sure though
Better known for a fretless Stingray.
 2.
How about Todd Rundgren vs John Lennon? An open letter was in the Melody Maker
AN OPENED LETTUCE TO SODD RUNTLESTUNTLE (from dr winston o'boogie) Couldn't resist adding a few "islands of truth" of my own, in answer to Turd Runtgreen's howl of hate (pain.) Dear Todd, I like you, and some of your work, including "I Saw The Light", which is not unlike "There's A Place" (Beatles), melody wise. 1) I have never claimed to be a revolutionary. But I am allowed to sing about anything I want! Right? 2) I never hit a waitress in the Troubador, I did act like an ***, I was too drunk. So shoot me! 3) I guess we're all looking for attention Rodd, do you really think I don't know how to get it, without "revolution?" I could dye my hair green and pink for a start! 4) I don't represent anyone but my SELF. It sounds like I represented something to you, or you wouldn't be so violent towards me. (Your dad perhaps?) 5) Yes Dodd, violence comes in mysterious ways it's wonders to perform, including verbal. But you'd know that kind of mind game, wouldn't you? Of course you would. 6) So the Nazz use to do "like heavy rock" then SUDDENLY a "light pretty ballad". How original! 7) Which gets me to the Beatles, "who had no other style than being the Beatles"!! That covers a lot of style man, including your own, TO DATE... Yes Godd, the one thing those Beatles did was to affect PEOPLES' MINDS. Maybe you need another fix? Somebody played me your rock and roll pussy song, but I never noticed anything. i think that the real reason you're mad at me is cause I didn't know who you were at the Rainbow (L.A.) Remember that time you came in with Wolfman Jack? When I found out later, I was cursing cause I wanted to tell you how good you were. (I'd heard you on the radio.) Anyway, However much you hurt me darling; I'll always love you, J. L. 30th Sept. 1974
 3.
Sorry, only just seen this. It's a standard 4-string set tuned down a tone. In fact last week I played the one bass I have that's in standard tuning (with TIs) and was struck by how high the tension was. I think I'm becoming a wuss.
Not a wuss, but you must have a delicate touch.
 4.
Yes that's the route I'm going, I've got some LaBella flats coming from Thomann (as I had a €40 voucher to spend!). They only had the 760FS standard in stock (045, 065, 085, 105) and I probably would have gone for the 760FM set which is a touch thicker, but I'm guessing that a whole tone down with the FS set might give similar tension to the TIs?? Trial and error perhaps,
That sounds possible. I've got 760FS on a Precision bass at the moment and they are tense enough I think to take a drop to DGCF without becomeing too loose. The D certainly works on the D-Tuner.
 5.
My favourite is Noel Gallagher on Jack White - "he's like Zorro on doughnuts"!!!! Hahaha
That made me laugh too.
 6.
John Lennon was once asked if he thought Ringo was the best drummer in the world. His reply -- He's not even the best drummer in the Beatles. Myk
The best drummer was Macca but Lennon sent Ringo a postcard.
 7. I would have thought that the easiest sell-out for Young would be to hammer out After the Goldrush, Harvest, etc. Annoying half the audience hardly sounds like let's make some money sell-out.
 8. I've never had that with any of La Bella, Pyramid, GHS, Rotosound Black nylons. Used them on various fretted and fretless basses. A few weeks ago I changed the La Bellas on my Takamine B10 for a set of Rotosound Trubass and gigged them a few hours later. No problems.
 9. The only time I change strings is if I want to try a different kind of string. Even then I keep the old strings and put them back on later or on another bass.
 10. Expensive compared to the Vox above but I use a Phil Jones Bass Buddy wired up for bass and iTunes library through headphones or speakers.
 11.
I haven't the faintest idea
Hmmm ... I may have to cough up for the hardback then.
 12. Perhaps not what you're looking for but 60s Motown commonly has two or even three guitars. The guitars are different e.g. one Telecaster, one Gibson Firebird, one jazz-bodied Gibson. The parts are diferent e.g. one part is chord sequence, one part is fingerpick, one part is repetitive rif or counter-melody. EDIT: here's two of them:
 13. I like to have little changes to phrases, or an additional note or rest, or a particular fill which all operate to tell me where I am in the song. In fact I'd like to think that, at least sometimes, maybe the rest of the band know that we are going to the bridge because the bass just set things up to take it to the bridge. But I do listen to the lyrics and to the other players. EDIT ... and I'm not immune from getting it wrong.
 14.
Plug plug pluggidy plug....
How long do we have to wait for the paperback edition?
 15.
... I just happen to be extremely obsessive, anal, sad, OCD, call it what you will, when it comes to Fender Basses.
Fastidious is a good word.
 16.
I'm not kidding the nut is a whole tone further away than on the p bass, I've even found a thread on talkbass that shows an commercial made add on by steinberger to alter the strap position and bring the neck closer It's not really a problem, like anything I'll get used to it, just after years of playing fender/stingray style basses I did not realize the neck position could vary so much between makes. http://basschat.co.u...rap-attachment/
How has that got anything at all to do with the number of frets?
 17. I can't see why this is an issue at all. Try doubling on bass guitar and upright bass - except even that's not a problem if you practice.
 18. If this was me I would need to have it out in the open. Don't be silent. Maybe your friend knows what's gone on and is fearful to say anything. In that case you need to put him at his ease and show that you're cool about it, or if you aren't cool about it then that needs to come out too.
 19.
Hey! I haven't tried them no.. I took the bass (strung with roundwounds) to a tech with the nylon strings I'm packet and asked to get them on and 'set-up'. He said he didn't wanna put them on the medium scale p-bass just coz the gauge is a bit thick and they're 'long scale' strings. So it wasn't gonna find on the tuner too well either and could snap! So no, they're still in the packets coiled up = )
Except for the A string, the gauge is the same for medium scale as it is for long scale: Tru bass long scale - 65-75-100-115 Tru bass medium scale - 65-75-90-115
 20.
And the bathroom scale can be used for weighing yourself should feel so inclined. It can also be used for weighing basses packaged up ready to send if you're doing that kind of stuff too.
True, I've done both of those.
 21. One of the advantages of a luggage scale is that it can also be used for weighing ... er ... luggage.
 22.
but are they good for metal?
Never.
