1.
I never figured out how to pronounce silddx. I'm doubly confused now.
It can be pronounced it 'Nigel'.
 2.
Personally I think this is one of the most expressive recordings I've ever heard: Hope you like it Steve.
I love that one. Exquisite tone.
 3.
Alice Coltrane? I suppose she might!
Robbie Coltrane might know too.
 4. Is xilddx pronounced the same as silddx?
 5.
is that from art or entertainment?
'Go ask Alice, I think she'll know.'
 6.
...You need to learn the real meaning of words...
"I don't know what you mean by 'glory,' " Alice said. Humpty Dumpty smiled contemptuously. "Of course you don't—till I tell you. I meant 'there's a nice knock-down argument for you!' " "But 'glory' doesn't mean 'a nice knock-down argument'," Alice objected. "When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less." "The question is," said Alice, "whether you can make words mean so many different things." "The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be master[s] [/s]that's all."
 7.
You clearly don't know the meaning of the word "shallow". But I guess you folks are willing to do anything in order to show politeness, even misunderstanding simple words.
Shallow, in this context, means lacking in any depth of understanding. That's exactly what I meant. You appear not to know the meaning of words like 'music', 'art', and 'entertainment'.
 8.
That's a pretty shallow statement but hey, whatever makes you happy.
You are extremely shallow and I was extremely entertained by Coltrane.
 9.
Inti, on 06 January 2013 - 04:54 PM, said: Last time I checked people danced to technotronic and jenifer lopez, while listened to Bach, Holdsworth and the Mahavishnu Orchestra.
Wow, I've been getting that wrong. I've been dancing to Bach and Mahavishnu for decades while I've never danced to Lopez and I don't even know what technotronic is
 10. BBOT works for me, never been short of sustain, but if you like the look and think you're going to hear some supposed advantage in sound and you've got £100 or however much it is then go ahead and get something else. I'd see it as a waste of money and aesthetically displeasing.
 11. I use sometimes a Mesa Walkabout 12 and sometimes a Phil Jones Bass Briefcase. Both work fine for me.
 12.
Should be Spinyl as in vinyl. That would get more attention. Although telling people your web adress would be tortuous...
I recommend 'Spinyl Vinyl'.
 13.
Does anybody know when instrument companies stopped supplying basses with flatwounds fitted as standard? I remember a thread about flats on Talkbass a couple of years ago and think somebody mentioned that it was the early 70s for Rickenbacker and Fender.
I bought a new Fender Precision in 1976. It was factory fitted with Fender flats (no alliteration intended).
 14.
It's probably made in the same factory as the Epi JC is or has been in the past. Anyone with a JC with a serial number beginning with P or R?
Have all the Casadys been made by Peerless or just the early ones?

 16.
I too get the impression that there is less exciting new gear this year . The only explanation I can think of is the recession . People are beginning to realise that it's going to be a very long haul to get back to anything like normal . I think these will get a few people excited, though :
So, the 58 comes with the mutes under the bridge cover. Did I hear that correctly at 1.28?
 17.
You could get a Hayman 40/40 basically a Marathon with two split Precision pickups - they are becoming quite rare though so be prepared to pay £400+++ Like the Shergolds they have great necks - Shergolds were initially made up from old Hayman stock by the way.
I had a 4040 in the mid seventies, heavy as I recall but a good sounding bass.
 18. The difference between short scale and long scale is small compared to the difference between long scale and upright. Just get used to it.
 19. Not actually white but clear. 760T White Nylon Tape Wound, Standard 60-115 As the originators of the Black Nylon Tape Wound bass set, La Bella introduces the 760T set. Unlike the classic 760N set, the White Nylon Tape Wound 760T set is made with a transparent nylon wrapped over stainless steel underlays. The result is a brighter and even smoother finish, allowing players to effortlessly glide from note to note. The 760T set is extremely versatile and can be used for electric, fretless and acoustic basses. Available for purchase at your favorite online retailer, local store and La Bella dealer! 20.
I'd rather just get some small self-adhesive glow in the dark stickers, or, even better, just learn my way round the neck properly (its not *that* hard). Unless you're playing a very unusual/futuristic bass LEDs just look silly, IMO.
I wouldn't have LEDs myself but I don't see how they're any sillier than having side dots at all. I played with a guitarist who had glow-in-the-dark Tippex on his side dots.
