1.
and apparently he's not making it anymore.
So, project that might not be quite fun ... buy Fred Hammon's tooling etc. and start making Dark Stars and see if you can keep up with the demand.
 2.
project that could be quite fun..... .... could you make your own darkstar? has anyone tried?
Well, Fred Hammon made his own Hagstrom Bisonic and called it the Dark Star.
 3.
Funny isn't it. I've never had a problem with them. They are on all my basses.
Same here, never had any problems with Schallers.
 4.
I don't get any fret noise with mine at all, might be worth checking your setup. My deep talkin flats feel so nice under the fingers, so smooth.
+1
 5.
A great bass, i really regret selling thisa Dave has made some tasty upgrades too, i would have had this had i the cash, well will be looking for an NXT 5 next year with any luck!!
I only sold it because I need money to buy a 'proper' upright.
 6. I had some Wizard 64s in my Squier CV Jazz. They did the trick nicely and relatively cheaply.
 7.
What?
A 'negotiable instrument' is a bit like a cheque - it is a promissory note or guarantee of payment, a bank draft.
 8.
If this is the case then, do most people here just send uninsured?
I do, and I think many others do too because the insurance is pointless.
 9. Read the small print, many couriers won't insure musical instruments, although they will take your money.
 10.
I reckon you'd be better off getting one of the Dan Erlewine books. G.
+1

 12. Never heard of Great White but Hunter & Ronson I like.
 13. The G&L 2000 is a very nice bass but that's overpriced for a Tribute.
 14. That's an interesting and very useful site but there's quite a few missing but commonly used strings.
 15.
... failure was, or may have been, lager-induced ...
I've had that experience too.
 16.
Seriously? Can you find one effects pedal that claims to be waterproof?
Best I could do: http://www.altoedge.com/pedals/3-pedal-waterproof.html
 17.
Not surprised, bargain that!
Thanks, I said it was.
 18. And the number of watts claimed by the manufacturer may not be wholly accurate.
 19. I'm now in possession of the B10 mentioned earlier (the one with the fretlines and side dots between the frets). I've got to say that so far I'm loving it although I'm still trying to figure out the preamp. I've fitted a strap pin on the heel and I'm playing it horizontally. The thing I'd change is that I'd prefer if it still had no fretlines, although that's not really a problem, but, more problematically for me, I really don't like the side dots between the fretlines as if it was a defretted bass. I may have to have those dots removed and new dots at 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 etc.
 20.
Could be F for Fender.
FE11DER would be better.
 21.
I have B4SS F on retention now (as I sold my F bass last year)
Could be F for Fender.
 22.
Well ordered them Thurs, arrived in post yesterday - very good turnaround, well done Stringbusters - on my `77 Precision today. First impressions - well not used them in a band setting yet, but to me they sound like old roundwounds. Which I`m glad about, as that`s the sound I`m looking for. Problem I`ve had with rounds, is once they get old, and I have the sound I want, they`re not too far from dead, and I want to retain that nice thump for a while. Hopefully these will give me the sound I`m looking for, and I`ll never have to change `em again
Flats have a tendency to sound better as they get older ... then you'll never have to change them again.
