  2. Fender Mustang Bass, crafted in Japan sometime between 1999 and 2002, sporting a Fiesta Red finish and an aftermarket brown tort pickguard.

  4. My son used to have a Crafter SA-TMVS with a Kent Armsrong lipstick pickup, a piezo in the bridge, and an L.R.Baggs preamp. It was around £280 new in 2010ish. Bargain guitar.

  6. A (major or minor) third higher is common, e.g. Everly Brothers. Personally, I never got much beyond shouting in unison while playing the root note or walking fours. Good luck.

At the time rounds were taken to be new fresh and cool which in a certain sense they were - particularly the marketing of Rotosound Swing bass - such that there was quite strong peer group pressure to use rounds. The limitations of much bass amplification to compete with guitars and drums meant most of us couldn’t hear ourselves and the overtones of rounds may have helped with that. On the other hand I suspect many if not most professionals were still using flatwounds.
