Well, if people in the street were to recognise that it would be the guitar rather than the bass, it would be Lucozade not Iron Maiden. I'm still not convinced they would recognise it at all, let alone associate it with bass.
 2.
It was the lucozade advert tune for ages !!!
I'm still no wiser.
 3.
'Phantom.......' by Iron Maiden? Really? I've never heard it. I think the majority of people wouldn't have a clue.
I certainly haven't a clue.
 4.
I think some people might be just listing their favourite big tunes they know how to play. Your average Joe on the street isn't going to be able to name half of these. Wha about Around The World by Daft Punk?
Don't know that one either, but +1 on the the first part of what you said.
 5.
I'm thinking surely they must know these two but it depends on your definition of the man in the street. White Stripes - 7 Nation Army U2 - With Or Without You
I know the first but not the second.
 6. I always ran my LMII with the EQ flat and then used the VPF and VLE to add in the tone I wanted. It worked well with two Ashdown 1x15s and better with an Ampeg 4x10.
 7.
Well being that Bernard Edwards bassline for Chic's "Good Times" also appears in Michelle Gayles "Happy Just to be with You", The Sugar Hill Gangs "Rapper's Delight", Will Smith's "It's all good", Beverley Knight's "Made it Back" and I think all were pretty big sellers - then this is THE bass line everyone probably recognises most (musicians and the general listener). EDIT: Even has it's own wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good_Times_(Chic_song)
... and the inspiration for Another One Bites the Dust.
 8.
Seeing lots of them together doesn't make 'em any prettier (IMHO, of course). So what are they - got a link?
http://www.kifguitars.com
 9. There's loads being mentioned that I haven't got the slightest idea about the bass line, I don't even know the song, and sometimes don't even know the band.
 10.
I played bass (2010 USA Jazz and 1994 Warwick Fortress fretless) through a Mark Bass combo for the second time last week. First time was a 1x15 combo at a rehearsal venue in Brighton. Last week was a 2 x 10 combo in a similar place in Worthing. I just can't get a decent sound out of them that I like. Very muddy sounding. Things got better when I stuck a Line 6 X3 live in front of them - but, on their own, I just hate 'em. As I'm going to have to make do with them at rehearsals, I need to get on with it and see how they go. Anyone got any advice?
I like them. I had a LMII that I was very happy with until it went to pay for my Mesa. The 1x15 combo at Electric in Brighton always sounds fine to me, but what you call muddy I probably call thump.
 11.
Alright Now
Verse or chorus?
 12.
I wouldn't say people would know 'Word Up'.
I don't know it.
Maybe 'I want you back'? Then again, maybe not.
I know that one but I've played that bassline to other musicians and they don't recognise it. So, then again, maybe not.
 13.
Not necessarily.
I didn't mean necessarily, I meant actually.
 14.
Come together (Beatles) Love Cats (Cure) Word up (Cameo) Can't think of anymore right now but I bet there is loads
Who are Cameo, I've never heard of them.
 15.
When you play the bass part to a song, most people don't recognise it. What bass lines would you say the average non-musician could recognise? Billie Jean Peaches Good Times/Rappers Delight The Chain/Formula One theme Another One Bites The Dust What would you say is the most recognised?
I think you are way over-rating the ability of the so-called 'man in the street' to recognise a bass line.
 16.
The Clash - London Calling?
My guess would be that most people have never heard of The Clash, let alone know a bass line. Someone played that line at last years south-east bash and I didn't recognise it.
 17. Here we go: Kay K5970 Jazz Special Electric Bass Guitar (Re-issue)
 18.
Are you suggesting our greatest living artist was so rooked after the Beatles that he had to go to a catalogue?
Yes.
 19.
Capital letters scare me
BOO! ... sorry
 20.
I suppose it's original...
Didn't seem very original to me, sounded like a load of noise I've heard a hundred times. Awful.
 21. The only time I've played in the dark is at a gig.
