Can you get a musicmanesque tone from the humbucker?
To be honest I'm not sure, I've very little experience of Music Man basses. I have seen others describe the American Deluxe P humbucker as 'more punchy and less boomy' than a Stingray but also as 'thinner' than a Stingray. Mind you, the blend control allows the addition of a little P pickup if you want more 'boom' or 'thickness'. Also, the active bass, mid, and treble allow a wide range of sounds. Sorry not to be more helpful. Maybe someone who knows the American Deluxe P and the Music Man will be along in a minute. Anyone?

 3.
Met up with Dave (aka Brighton Bass Gear Courier Services) the other night and it was a real pleasure. To explain the BBGCS reference, Dave bought my '62 RI Precision and we agreed a meet at on the M25, and I, somewhat opportunistically, took advantage and asked Dave to pick up my EKO fretless that's been sitting in Brighton uncollected for about 6 months. He very kindly agreed. Then I offered one of my Bar End 15s for sale on BC, and guess where the non-driving buyer lives? Yep, Brighton, so Dave did the honours on that also. Dave's a top bloke and a pleasure to do business with (he also looks about 25 despite being a little older!). His taste in gear is similar to mine and therefore beyond question - Fender Tony Franklin & AV62, Mesa Boogie, PJB. He was also very patient whilst I talked endlessly about bass over coffee despite it being about 10.30! Chris
Thanks Chris, very nice to meet you I hope that will happen again. Very pleased with the 62.
 4.
Hi there does this P bass have a nice low action? thanks mike.
Thanks for your interest. The bass is setup close to the values that Fender give for bass guitars: For 9.5" to 12" radius: Relief at 8th fret = 0.012" (0.3 mm) Action at 17th fret 4th string = 6/64" (2.4 mm) Action at 17th fret 1st string = 5/64" (2 mm) I have just taken all three measurements and they are very close to those figures, tending to be very marginally higher by less than 1/64" in the case of the action, and 0.1 mm in the case of the relief. Given that I play with flats and consider myself to like a medium to high action I was surprised the measurement was so low. So, 'a nice low action'? I think that's too subjective to call. If you want a particularly low or lower action then I suspect a tightening tweak on the truss rod and some adjustment of the bridge pieces could achieve it. If you were going to use different strings than the TI Jazz Flats which are on it now you would need to redo the setup anyway. To me it's 'nice' as it is.
 5.
... I'm on the BBC's Strictly tour at the moment ...
Now I wish I'd agreed to go with Mrs ET but I'm sure she and her friends will tell me all about the bass playing.
 6. Tony Franklin Fretless comes with a D-Tuner as stock. I use it on one song.
 7. Seller appears to have dropped the price from £51,000 to £5,100. Bargain.
 8. All PMs replied. Neck is 1.625" at the nut, with rolled fingerboard edges and jumbo type frets (with very little wear).
 9.
Should I have 2? love the colour, if my cort gb94 sells I may be back........ can't get enough of Fenders at the moment, I love them.
Maybe you should have two ... good luck with your sale.
 10.
It was impressive in 1985. Trust me, you had to be there.
I was there. I don't deny King's technical proficiency at doing that thing he does but I've never seen the point of it and it has never been of any musical interest for me. So not impressed, even in 1985.
 11. Very nice Clarky. Let me know when you're selling it.
 12.
If you know someone who wants my bass I'd buy this off you! Even so, I can give that person a discount if you make it happen
I'd definitely like to make it happen but I don't know anyone who wants your bass at the moment. Good luck with your sale.
 13. I'm very pleased and honoured to announce my arrival on Beedster's Wall of Shame. Chris sold me his Vintage 62 Precision (and tried to sell me several other items) with great communication all along. He's a great guy and always reliable. I recommend you deal with him at your earliest opportunity.
 14. Sold John a set of strings - immediate payment, good communication, all round excellent.
 15.
Courtesy of Peter [Greeneking] I'm now the proud owner of this lovely AV 62 Reissue Sounds like no other Precision I've heard with clear bell like growling tones and no mush whatsoever.
Ooh, it looks just like mine! Sounds and feels great - I love a proper P bass.
 16.
Possibly GHS Brite Flats - they have the gaps but I'm unsure whether they have silk.

Red silks!
Not those then. Are the gaps in the windings on Brite Flats due to them being groundwounds? If so, does that suggest OP's strings might be groundwounds?
 17. Possibly GHS Brite Flats - they have the gaps but I'm unsure whether they have silk.
 18. Picato flats have no silk but I don't think they match with the gaps in the windings.
 19.
Might be Joe Osborn signature flatwounds, I can't find a decent picture to back that up at the moment though
I think Joe Osborn Flats have black silks.
 20. Or cut a scratchplate design that doesn't reach to the pots - like the kinds you sometimes see on Lakland 44-94s and 55-94s and Decades:
 21.
Absolutely... Adam Clayton is the perfect bass player for U2, just about the biggest band in the world and yet how would Adam fair in a bass-off with Jeff Berlin!!!.......Horses for courses as they say. Too many young players become obsessed with best/fastest etc etc.... This is not an olympic event people....
I'm already looking forward to the Clayton-Berlin bass-off.
 22.
I was on the bus the other day and heard some college kids talking about they'er favourite bass player and they were taking about Flea. Saying he was one the best. I dont hear many younger people talk about Mark King. Would you consider him equal or better than flea? I prefer Mark King. I know they are young but when I was younger I heard of B Edwards and B Collins.
Ah, top trumps again. Personally, although I'd recognise Mark King's technical ability, I can't bear to listen to him or his band. Flea (and his band) I can listen to but I rarely do. You might find other answers here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...20best&st=0
 23.
I've got a set of TI flats and the lemon oil at the ready, so I'll see how I get on with them.
TI Flats will work well on this I think.
 24.
A live performance of Jerry with the bass - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gxfm6PeS6Y Seems to have a slightly Danelectro growl to it but much more solid. Is this a Doors knock off band or the remaining members?!
That looks like the Lakland 10th Anniversary concert with five Ampeg rigs - i.e. one each for Glaub, Dunn, Osborn, Jones, and Scheff.
