1. Matt bought my Markbass LMII and paid immediately - smooth transaction, good communication, recommended.
 2.
Blimey, I've just paid nearly £900 for one of these This is the bargain of the year! Stunning. Bump.
Thanks for saying so - at GAK in Brighton a new one is now at £999 I think, if they have any left with the new version soon becoming available (probably at more like £1200 I should think).
 3.
PM'd Wow - what a great looking instrument. Have a Bump on me.
... and replied.
 4. For anyone unaware, these American Deluxe series Precisions have a slightly smaller body than the standard. This one weighs in at 8lbs 5oz on my scales.
 5. SALE ONLY - NO TRADES I'm selling to fund my purchase of another bass so I should have said that I'm definitely looking for a cash sale. So, thanks to those who have made trade offers but they don't interest me at this time.
 6.
This is what I got: http://www.thomann.de/ie/phil_jones_briefcase_akku.htm
Thank you.
 7.
I have this too. Love the cream covering-much nicer than the bog-standard black. Saw the oxblood one too, but to quote Sideshow Bob- I had to go for that retro-50's charm It does feel like 100 watts is punching way above its weight, but its perfect for acoustic sessions and very small pub gigs. Stick a decent mic in front of it and it sounds lovely. The EQ section is amazing on it though-very clear with a fair bit of thump. I use mine with my custom jazz and my sienna 78 P and the tones are beautiful from it. Have to say though, it seems to love the Jazz-or maybe its me that prefers the tone A fantastic amp and well worth the price I reckon anyway. Have you got a battery for it yet? Just tried one with mine the other evening at a mate's place and it worked a treat. car charger is well handy too!
No battery as yet. Any recommendations?
 8.
Get this thing! A great price and brilliant for bass, but versatile and high quality enough to use on vocals. If I didn't have one already I'd be all over this like Frank Lampard on a baked ham...
Thanks - although the Frank Lampard bit was slightly scary
 9. This picture gives the best representation of the colour, although the colour tone does vary with the lighting: And this picture shows the worst of the small dinks:
 10. Fender American Deluxe Precision 2006: Alder body in gorgeous translucent amber with brown tort pickguard, 22 fret rosewood fretboard, and at present wearing TI Jazz Flats (which I could replace with D'Addario Chromes if the buyer preferred). 18volt active with volume, blend, bass-treble stacked, and mid, controls. There is no facility for switching to passive. In three years I have needed to change the batteries only once. I fitted Schaller straplocks (I am unable to find the original Fender strap buttons) The mid pot became noisy about a year ago and was replaced with a genuine Fender part (actually CTS I think). I have much of the case candy (including the truss-rod adjuster and manual but not the cleaning cloth and mist-wipe) and the original moulded case which has never been used but does have the very beginnings of rust on the locks, one of which is awkward to open and close. I've had this bass from new in spring 2007 and it's served me very well for I reckon about a hundred gigs - I've used it to play fifties rock 'n' roll, sixties pop and soul, ska and reggae, some funk, hard rock and blues, it's been a useful all round bass because of the wide range of tones available with the two pickups and the active electronics. I would call the condition extremely good for a well gigged bass. Although there a quite a few tiny dings (and I do mean tiny) they do not break through the lacquer and are all too small to photograph (except perhaps the largest which I have tried to capture in the second picture in the next post). Let's have some pictures - but be warned my photography is worse than my bass playing: I can post at the buyer's expense although I'd prefer collection or a meet if possible - I'm in Brighton. I'm looking for £650
 11.
It would be rude of me to say. Enjoy the '62 though Dave!
Thanks, I'm sure that I will, so don't plan a sweepstake on how long I keep it.
 12.
Hey Chris Berkhamsted sounds good. I got a gig in Oxford on the 2nd May. Are you ok to wait those couple weeks cos I really want this bass. Can sort out payment as soon as you like. Cheers Paul
Paul, I take it you're the buyer. This is a bargain. I'm in possession of this bass as courier between Phil and Chris and you're lucky I'm unable to keep it in my own collection. It's in need of a dust, some lemon oil on the fingerboard, and new strings (I'd say La Bella black nylons or Rotosound Trubass - a set of which I have for sale here) [now sold] but it's got a great retro look and seems loud - I think the trapeze tailpiece must help with that. Enjoy.
 13. Don't pop. Surgical spirit every hour. Buy some picks.
 14.
There has been some confusion as a result of Chris bumping this thread in an effort to move the '62 on (no big deal on my part). Can I just make it clear that I no longer own this bass. I traded with Chris a couple of weeks ago and he has since decided to move it on for reasons clearly explained by him in this thread. I have been offered a gorgeous trade for it too via PM!!!
... and what was the gorgeous trade?
 15. As everyone is saying already, don't go 'ooh, it's a fretless' and treat it differently. Just play what you would normally play - maybe even simplify things - and concentrate on listening for the intonation.
 16.
Now THATS cool. Id love to know how this compares to your Mesa.
Thanks. No comparison with the Mesa really (and one-third of the price). The PJB is only 100 watts and I feel probably a fairly quiet 100 but it might still cope with small acoustic gigs. The tone is very nice but of course none of the valviness or thump of the Mesa. I only plan to use it for practising at home and maybe some busking with acoustic guitar/ukulele/banjo once I get a battery for it. Even with the battery fitted it should be an easy carry. Quite pleased with the cream though.
 17.
Now gone to a good home
But not quite arrived yet ...
 18.
... I'll try a set of nylon rotosounds ...
I have a set for sale here if aren't already sorted.
 19. Phil Jones Bass Briefcase in cream:
 20.
OK folks, with apologies for hijacking Jamie's thread, this is available again. I traded my '81 Precision Special for it last week, but having spent most of the weekend A-Bing it against my '64 Precision, realised not only that they are pretty much identical in nearly every way (except price), but that I keep buying basses as 'back-up' to my '64 and as a result am never playing the '64. So, I've had a chat with John East who's going to install a P-Retro into the '64, and I'm going to stick to that bass as my main gigger with my '73 fretless as back-up. The '81 cost me about £900 in total so I see this bass as being worth that to me. However, I'm prepared to consider serious cash offers as I am, to an extent, coming out of this better off given that I'm reducing my total number of basses. All case/case candy included of course. It's currently wearing a black pickguard which gives it a far more 70's feel, the original will also be included. Collection from Canterbury or Berkhamsted, delivery/meeting by prior agreement, or courier at buyer's expense Apologies for using Jamie's thread but I'm having to use a mobile broadband thingy this week and it's like going back to 1995 internet speed! Cheers Chris
Er ... Chris ... you have a PM.
