I can accurately measure a few holes so you can check it against yours... front of pickup cutout to ctr of hole at top back corner of neck pocket = 87mm, hole at same dimension but bottom of pickup & bottom neck pocket= 99mm, back of pickup c/out at top to adjasent level hole= 25mm, hole at same dimension but level at bottom pickup cutout= 41mm, ctr of hole at bottom of neck pocket to ctr of hole dirrectly bellow it= 86mm. hope this helps...Nick[/quote] OK, those measurements look very close on my CV Jazz - so I'll take a punt on it. There's several threads on Talk Bass that mention VM Squiers not having the strings that the Squier website says - specifically not having Fender Super Bass 7250ML. It's would seem odd if they are D'Addario but I can't myself see what else they are. Maybe what you are calling yellow is what I am calling brass, and maybe that black is a dark blue. The colours as I named them is what D'Addario calls them and they are exactly the same as other D'Addario strings I have used. I really don't think they are Fender Super Bass 7250ML. But who knows?

    Well, I just dug out the strings that came on my CV Jazz and I'd say they have typical D'Addario colour coded ball ends: green - G, black - D, red - A, and brass - E, and no silk wraps. If you look at the enlarged picture on the Squier website for both the CV Jazz and the CV precision, you see the same colour coded ball ends and no silk wraps.

I'd be even more surprised if all the shops were changing them for the same colour coded ball end strings - whatever make they are.

    A bit of research suggests that other companies which sometimes colour code ball ends are: Giannini; Hartke; DR; and ... anyone else?

Slightly scared, Jack![/quote] My Lakland Decade, like all new Laklands now, was PLEKed. It's very smooth and even up and down and across the fretboard. But I believe the machine still needs a skilled operator - it's not robots taking over - and anyway at Lakland it's $200 for a PLEKing. And a PLEK machine is about $10,000. So I think there'll still be work for you.
