Does the pickup have the E-A coils in the usual position and then the D-G coils moved above them nearer the neck? Or are the D-G coils where the E-A coils would have been relative to the neck? Looks to me as if the D-G coils are nearer the neck than the usual E-A position. I'll stop now before I confuse myself.

I've got TI Jazz Flats on my Michael Kelly. Acoustically it is quieter than when it had acoustic bronze rounds on it but I had to amplify it to play with others then so I don't see what difference it makes.

I didn't mean any fuss but footage of Jamerson is rare to say the least and I'd not seen this clip before. I wasn't only interested to see Jamerson but the whole set up even if it was set up (no pun intended) for the CBS cameras. My favourite bits were actually Joe Hunter counting them all in and Eddie Willis playing a Gibson Firebird. Also, stupidly, I hadn't realised before that Bobbye Hall was a woman.

For me, the first guy was truly awful, I could listen for about thirty seconds. I tried jumping forward to other levels but it just got worse and worse. Tetsuo Sakurai I could listen to but I couldn't see any point in doing so. Gustavo Dalfarra actually played music, which was nice and a refreshing change, but I wouldn't be rushing to listen again.

Lots of people use flats and a pick. It was not uncommon amongst '60s session players like Joe Osborn, Carol Kaye, John Paul Jones. No clicks there.

There are three things troubling me: 1. In pic ten, where the finish is chipped away from the body edge by the bridge, shouldn't the exposed wood be dirtier? Perhaps it has been stored in a very clean way. 2. It must surely be a trick of the light but in the seventh pic, looking down the removed neck, the fretboard looks the wrong colour, very rosewoody. Although if it was rosewood it would be a slab board, yes? 3. In pic four, should the pickguard screws be slot or crossheads? Some look to be slots but some are crossheads. What do you think?

By the way, I would say the D'Addario Chromes are not as tight as La Bellas but nothing like the TIs; more like Pyramids. They are certainly fine with a pick and can be quite trebly until they are broken in, IMHO.

Nice one, Mario.[/quote] I've got them on my Lakland Decade and they can certainly do dubby (especially with the neck pup on the Decade) but they are not devoid of treble at all if you want it (especially bridge pup) - I believe McCartney used them on his Hofner and then on the Rick (I'd be happy to be corrected about this) as, I believe, did Casady and Lesh. It's always a problem with trying out flatwounds that they are usually substantially more expensive so I don't want to tell you you'll like them when you may not. I don't use a pick myself but I don't see why TIs shouldn't work with a pick except that they might be more likely to break if you are (over-)hitting them hard. I think Clarky uses TIs with a pick - maybe PM him and ask.

Maybe Pyramid Gold Flats which are more stiff than the TIs but less so than the La Bellas - but there isn't really any substitute for trying them yourself and finding out if they suit you.
