I love the look of the body shape , TBirdesque , but not actually that much like a TBird when you look closer.
If I understand correctly the body was designed by Lakland with advice from the now deceased Dudepit bass chat site in US. I've heard Dan Lakin describe it as a Gibson EB3 lower bout and a Fender Bass VI upper bout. The Skyline finish - translucent burgundy, black pickguard, blocks and binding, black headstock - was designed for a Gibsonesque retro feel by a small group of seven (including me) in the last days of the Dudepit.
Stumbled on this while doing vital research on Derek smalls: http://www.lakland.com/the-decade.htm
Here's mine and my cooker: and here's one that includes the kitchen floor: The first pic is a better representation of the actual colour.
 3.
I've even got the original invoice.
And what's the date on it?
 4.
Have a chance to get one of these at around the £350 mark - recently re-conditioned and overhauled, seems pretty sweet - no DI of course as it's a late 60's I believe, what are people's thoughts on mic'ing a bass cab, shud a bass always be DI'd? And also, has anyone owned/played one of these - how was it? Ta
The very first amp I had - in about 1974 - was a Treble 'n' Bass 50SV like this: I wouldn't really recommend it very highly but it certainly did the job for me at the time.
 5.
Love the look of your fretless Shaggy, just wish I could play fretless well enough to justify buying it from you! Looks just like Essential Tension/Dave's beautiful Tony Franklin only with a bit of added mojo. Can't understand why its still available
The TF will be mojo'd eventually I expect. I also can't understand why Shaggy's is still not sold.
 6.
Yeah. My main bass at the moment is an MIA Jazz '75 reissue and I've always wanted a fretless but I'm just not that bothered about the Jaco tone. Fretless P + flats = amazing
Correct.
 7. This might interest someone: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT
 8. I always take it out because the atmosphere in my house is dry due to central heating. If I'd been out in the rain with my bass then I might leave the gel in.
 9. Once I went flat, I never went back. -_-
 10.
This from a guy who found fretless bass too much Seriously mate, keep with it Chris
Steady on, Clarky was wailing very nicely on my fretless at the BB.
 11. Hope the op goes well for you. And the Anderton's story is a poor show.
 12.
'61 necks did not have binding, block markers or serial numbers on the headstock - the neck as previously stated looks to be a '73.
But surely the serial number is wrong for a '73 - as was already said the serial is a 2005 Japan serial.
 13. It's gone very quiet in here.
 14.
I do like that Stu Hamm Urge, I bet those are difficult to find too.
I played an old 32" Urge - it was very nice. I think the new ones are 34" though. So, you're probably correct - difficult to find.
 15.
I think the short p-bass is called a bullet bass.. I've looked everywhere for one and if/when I do find one, I probably wont have the cash for it.
Different to the Bullet bass - a Precision but 32" - there's one sold here in US with pics. Some pics in this thread at TB too. Looks like they are hard to find though. Jazz bass version here.
 16.
Okey dokey all sorted now and Pauls a happy bunny. Ta very much Dave and by the way I loved your gear at the bash on Saturday. One day I may get one of those Mesa's meself.
You're welcome and thanks.
 17.
I click on it and it plays ,no problem.I would just like to move it into a music folder on my desktop where I put all the pieces that I'm working on. Golly that sounds grand, what I really mean is the stuf I'm trying to learn to play.
Right click - save as
 18. LMII with two Ashdown 1x15s - flat EQ with a little bit of VLE usually.
 19.
Hmm, it should just play when you click on it mate, calling all buffs!!
It worked for me - thanks Jake.
 20.
Hahaha. I ment a Fender. I'll go have a look at the Jim Deacon, cheers.
Fender Japan do a 32" scale Precision bass (and a Jazz too). They are hard to find but they do exist.
 21.
Hi Graeme, I've just checked the picture again and yes it's me. I've just come out of hospital after an operation for prostrate cancer and I'm feeling not too bad - hope to gig on Saturday but may have to play sitting down. Howard.
Get well soon Doc.
 22.
Well, Mimes and dances, good sound though.
The sound is not live from the show but it was a live show.
 23. It looks to be missing the original smokey plastic bridge and pickup covers.
 24.
Hayman 4040
I had one of those in the 1970s - on the heavy side but a nice British bass. However, over-priced at £395, in my opinion
 25.
dear fender japan, '66 slab? thanx nash
As long as they could reproduce the sound of the '66 too that would be a seller I'm sure.
