EssentialTension replied to The Bass Doc's topic in Bass Guitars
Ace Kefford plays a 66 slab P with the Move - and sings and dances pretty well too: -
Well, it's a bit old, a bit worn, and a bit scratched. If the absolutely identical bass had Cort written on the headstock and was 5 yrs old it'd not fetch a comment in a month of Sundays I accept the interesting storyline behind these basses and without a doubt I love the tone of my P but reality vs fantasy? That's just me though, you lot can swoon away - hehe
I agree. It's not about the looks at all. It is about the history. -
Hellloooo. http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product?sku=581326
I saw that one too but at the price I didn't like to mention it. -
They always need a battery (or two) unless they have a passive switch that bypasses the pre-amp. My Fender US Deluxe Precision does not have a passive switch. I don't know about the bass you name though.
Highlights for me were ... 51m0n's rant about pedal compressors!
I know, I'm scared to use my compressor pedal now in case he sees me.
Thanks for the link. I wonder if Bach would get some more of those made...
Well, I guess they might seeing as they managed to sell about sixty or more - it must have been profitable for them. I could be tempted by one myself. BTW, bit of a long thread at the Last Bass Outpost - I hope you didn't have to read it all.
Just to add to your woes, suggest you remove your email address from your post. Quick way to get your t*ts spammed off. Most people here are comfortable with using PM's so you probably won't miss any comms. Either way, that's a nice looking bass. Good luck with your sale.
I guess he's expecting people to email him because he's not coming back to the thread. Oh well. -
On the old dudepit there was a plan for a bunch of members there to get bach to build a batch of vintage style non-reverse thunderbird copies using measurements from one owned by a forum member. I was following the progress, but the forum disappeared, so I have no idea whether it came to anything.
It continued to fruition here: http://bassoutpost.com/index.php?topic=434.0

People who don't turn up to auditions
EssentialTension replied to Steve_nottm's topic in General Discussion
You're better off them not turning up now than later after you've employed them. However, very frustrating I'm sure. -

Looks like Fender are doing a custom shop reissue of the '66 slab P: http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/pr...p;CJPID=3353204 Only $3779.99. -
Silddx and his Warwick fretless looking very retro I thought..
I'd just like to say that Nigel was not as scary as his avatar, which was a relief.
I think this is Essential Tension's rig? Looks fab whoever it belongs too!
Correct and thanks.
Some of Hamster's gear
Hmmm ... that sonic blue P is one I meant to have a go on but never did. Maybe next time.
Oh the TF was yours, I was wondering what your stuff was doing away from everyone elses, Had a good 15 minutes bash on the TF. Man that bass sings!
I just went for the first 13 amp socket I saw. Too eager. Glad you liked it.
As we're into the game of saying which basses we liked the most, I really liked Essential Tension (Dave's) Tony Franklin fretless, a real thing of beauty, and SilverDoxNik's BC Rich, which is so in-your-face rock! PS, I have been a bit protective about gigging my Shuker JJB (as its my most expensive bass by a long way) but - spurred by the nice comments I got yesterday - I used it at a gig earlier this evening. It is SO easy to play (the neck profile is fab) that I f*cked up much less than I usually do - and dare I say it, almost played quite well! I should use it more often, rather than keep it in its case and lick it occasionally :-)
I really did like that Shuker chunky neck which is unusual for me, I usually like something skinny and rosewood. And thanks on the TF, and thanks to WoT for making the mistake of selling it to me.
Thanks Dave...and your Decade was definitely one of my favs...
Thanks - and please never sell that DPLE2 without consulting me first.

what everyone think of this bass
EssentialTension replied to harlowbassplayer's topic in General Discussion
I bought an American Deluxe Precision for substantially less than that - and not online but in the shop. -
I had the 60's P for a short while last year. I couldn't stand the colour. It reminded me of 1970's panda cars and those little invalid carriages (Invacars) you used to see around...
A good effort but you haven't put me off the idea.
Yes... as I said earlier, they really are smashing! I've serious gas for a CV 60's P though... I've been bitten by the sonic blue bug.
Me too.
