On the 10 Downing Street website here's the petition started by Jon McClure of Reverend and the Makers.

I've had a Hofner Artist 185 (30"), an Aria TSB-550 (32"), and a Dearmond Starfire with Dark Stars (30"). I miss them all. I'd like a Mustang. Maybe one day.
Think i've said before that buying a box of 9v batteries is false economy, guitarists circle round em like vultures and you end up losing half of them!
So I'm at a gig and we're about to start the second set when guitarist discovers that he needs a new battery. I am playing only passive basses and my compressor, mixer/preamp, and tuner are all running from a mains power supply. Guess who is the only one carrying spare batteries.
I have to swap basses, I play fretless on one, sometimes two songs in our set (origanils, so 8/9 song set) I have to move quick to make it happen, biggest problem I have is getting the sound on my amp to suit fretless, the output of the Bart pre in my Sei is much higher than my Pedulla, I just got a Boss LS-2 to make the change easier. Maybe looking at making the chnage happen quicker like I have done is an option? Good luck finding a solution T
+1 on this solution. How long does it take to swap basses? Get a Radial Bassbone (£150ish s/h) and set the eq and level for the two basses so your happy then just kick the button to switch between them.
Dave, you have to be kidding me, right? I loved your posts - no worries at all, mate. Keep up the banter. As to the numbers thing, I love 'em. It's what I do for a living. But I'm well aware that they're a turn-off for most people.
Well, half kidding half not - just in case.
I have solved the weight problem with regards to bass playing and now never feel any aches or pains. I simply strap it to my manservant and tell him which notes to play, After a marathon 4 hour jam session I feel fresh as a daisy.
I expect the old manservant gives you a bit of rubdown too if you do need freshening up.

I'd like to apologise to the OP for not taking him seriously enough. Sorry Happy Jack. I couldn't follow your spreadsheet stuff but I take the point that there comes a point where the weight is more than can be taken, like the straw that breaks the camel's back.
I live an hour from bighton so GAK is always an option (they're great there as far as I can tell!).

Whereas I have found them to be ageist the other way... Not always, but more often than not.
I have had both good and bad experiences with GAK but mostly good. I have been aware of a kind of 'you're too old' embarrassment from some staff but I'd say it's rare. The stupidest thing that happened to me there was walking into the acoustics section with £400 cash in my pocket and a plan to buy an ABG and leaving again without trying anything because the guy couldn't be bothered to stop playing his computer game. I bought one on ebay instead. I would say generally good service in GAK and I only ever had one problem in the bass section and Mark in basses has helped me out on several occasions.
Just noticed "markers as for fretted" which is a relief as I can now stop gassing Incredible price for the bass, so it won't be around long Chris
Sorry if this gasses you up again Chris but in the third pic top row I'd say the side dot looks to be nearer the correct place for G and not somewhere between F# and G. But maybe my eyes are playing up. -
Sliced off the neck?
No, sliced of the neck AND the body. Now the bass is so light it's unbearable.
-
While you were working all that out I got an electric drill and a jig saw and substantially reduced the weight of several of my basses.
No mods while I had it - and none that I could detect from the previous owner(s).

Same here. I owned the bass before Martthebass, BTW.
Thanks guys. I think we can be fairly confident there are no mods except my replacement pickguard and that did not require any modifications to the bass itself - there are no extra screw holes. More pics later.
Hi ET, Can you post pictures of back of body, headstock (back and front), and neck fixing plate? Do you know if it has had any mods since new? Many thanks, Nick S
I'll try to get some more pics up later when I'm home from work - must find the camera. I'm not aware of any mods - I'm at least the third BC owner so maybe others can report on that.
