1.
alls well that ends well...well?
Pot now replaced and all is perfect.
 2.
You named your bass 'Weymouth'? By an amazing coincidence, one of mine is called 'Bognor Regis'. Any other basses named after popular English seaside towns? (But TW is, indeed, a fox, a fine player and, one assumes, in part, laudably responsible for the growing trend towards Lay-dee low-enders)
I've always been partial to a Lay-dee's low end.
 3.
What's the neck dive like on an upside down Thunderbird??
No idea, but probably less than on a correct way up Thunderbird.
 4.
Hendrix didn't have a damn great long neck attempting to nosedive - that upper horn is really rather useful. Alex
You could play a righty reverse Gibson Thunderbird lefty and then you'd have an upper horn.
 5.
I'm still in shock that Bob Babbitt was drafted in the replace the bass tracks on the first Talking Heads album... Alex
I never knew that either.
 6.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5zFsy9VIdM I prefer this track - really early on
I saw Talking Heads that year at, I think, Barbarella's club in Birmingham. If I remember correctly the support act were called Dire Straits.
 7.
Is it just me who thinks it looks tacky?
No, it's awful.
 8. Lee sold me his NS WAV 4 EUB. Absolutely smooth deal. Great packing. A pleasure in every way. Top man.
 9.
how about some verdict on these 'industry standard' strings i just got a bass with them on it and i usually use TI nickel..or anyones nickel they are breaking my heart and making me use all kinds of eq to tame them even through my sansamp bddi they are new so i am loathe to just ditch them....perhaps just give them away any thoughts or flames
I hate those Rotos (and I'm not keen on any stainless). Nickel flats all the way for me. TI Flats or D'Addario Chromes.
 10. There are people to whom I might lend gear and there are situations in which I might lend gear. This is definitely not one of them. I'd buy her a cheap Squier before I'd lend the J or the P. IMO, you need to sort this out straightaway before her (possible) expectations become even greater.
 11.
what i think is .....the signal goes into a pot...specifically designed to do a job of work the signal can be any signal so long as the pot is capable of handling it and not attenuating it so who makes these pots...in the uk..must be somebody and it aint fender but there we go...and there you go good luck...and i hope it does the job too!! ps you could have contacted a uk luthier for 'a pot' to do the job..
You're probably correct about a UK luthier having something to 'do the job' but...anyway. Price turned out not too bad because I ordered two (just in case) and got a major Paypal refund on the shipping due to it costing much less than advertised on the website. And they are already in USPS post this morning. So my recommendation goes to Darren Riley Guitar & Amp Shop of Raleigh, North Carolina.
 12.
The same happened to my new P deluxe-I bent a few bits in the pot and it's been fine ever since
Hmmm... maybe I'll try that but my mid pot has always felt slightly strange and sort of floppy (compared to the treble and bass and blend) even when it worked. On my searches I've come across half a dozen people who have had problems with this pot on the American Deluxe.
 13. Bit the bullet and ordered from US. It better work.
 14. Hang on! Slovenia loses because I can't figure out how to buy anything from the site. Looks like US has pulled into the lead. Does no one sell these in UK?
 15. And it seems this is a common ailment. Even a thread on Talkbass.
 16. Got one in the US now, shipping is three times the price of the pot!!
 17.
you are a lot more resourceful than me!! i met a guy in london last weekend from slovenia...its a country with high wages and levels of living...so he told me i guess you have your supplier no results for the uk?
No UK result so far - maybe I'm doing the wrong search. Thanks for your help.
 18.
its probably just a simple industrial pot with detent...i am checking out a supplier
Thanks. The Fender parts list describes it as 100KB CNTR DTNT (part #0049443000) - if I have understood correctly. And I found a place in Slovenia that has them!!
 19. Er...and how do I know what pot to buy? All it says on the pot is 49443 0634 CT8
 20.
I want to switch instruments during a performance – in my case I want to start using my Stagg EUB for some numbers. Short of obviously pulling one plug out of the amp and inserting the other how would a professional do this? Some footswitch arrangement maybe? The EQ settings on the amp I could get away with for both bass and upright but the volume for each instrument would have been carefully set at the sound check. How does everyone else do it? Any tips appreciated – I like to keep things as simple and foolproof as possible. Thanks
How about one of these: Radial Bigshot i/o Available here
 21.
Sounds like something inside has let go - maybe as you say it's producing microphonics the same way as when valve internals get dislodged? Time to swap the pot out and see if it works I suppose?
Thank you.
 22. OK, anyonehelp with this. I have a Fender American Deluxe Precision. This is an active bass with pots for volume, pickup blend, stacked bass and treble, and middle. Except for the volume all pots have central notches. The middle pot feels to have lost its centre notch and clanks at full cut and more so at full boost - kind of sounds microphonic - and I seem to have some mid boost going on. Do I just change the pot?
 23.
This is now sold thankyou to everybody who expressed interest - ALL THE BEST - LEE
And thank you
