1. Fender American Deluxe Precision has a double J humbucker in the bridge position too but without a coil tap.
 2.
I'm certainly interested, so please do post some pics - stacked if you can. Anyone else got experience of these? Would I be daft to replace my two Bergo 12" cabs with them?

I will take the Berg's for £390 if it helps !
And I'll take the Berg's for more than £390 if you are having an auction.
 3.
Slade - Merry Christmas Everybody Loving the walky chorus bit. We (my originals band #1) have got a gig on xmas eve and we're gonna bung this in about 3 songs from the end. It'll probably go down a treat. But will it fit with our rather more heavy stuff? Who gives... it's Chriiiiiiiiiiistmaaaaaas!
And the middle eight - or whatever you want to call it.
 4. And here's some pics: Dean Stylist Thundertrons I think this was the basss I was thinking of and I may have imagined that I had heard a sound sample.
 5.
Anyone used these? i belive they are used in Gretch Basses , i was drawn to them by the Eric wilson connection ( he used a Koll bass fitted with them apparently) as i love his tone in sublime. Just thought i would look at other alternatives before i order a darkstar for my incoming ASB 140. It will be used in a hollow body bass for ska punk, dub and a little classic rock. any thoughts?
IIRC, I heard the Thundertrons in a hollow Dean Stylist bass a couple of years ago and they sounded very good although I don't recall now exactly how they sounded. However, I think - although not with certainty - that the Thundertron has a smaller profile than the gap you going to have when you take the pickup out of the ASB140. So I guess you'd need some kind of surround if that's correct. Cheaper than a Dark Star but I think I would probably stick with the Dark Star idea.
 6.
It's ok I have a Skyline 55-02 and know what quality to expect, i'm really not snobby about where something is made anymore.
Ah, Machines, that bit was not directed at you personally but to the great unwashed who know not of the thing that is the Skyline.
 7.
Gtr: "It's in A" Bass: "It's in G" Gtr: "No it isn't" Keys: "It's in G on the album" Gtr: "Not on the live album" Singer: "I haven't got the live album" Bass: "Well it starts with a G" Gtr: " Yes, but then it modulates to A" Keys: "That's not a G, it's an F#m" Bass: "So it's not a modulation, it's the relative minor" Gtr: "The relative minor of G is Em" Bass: "But you said it was in A" Gtr: "It is" Keys: "Where does it go after the A?" Bass: "If you want it in A, I could put a Capo on" Gtr: "Capo on a bass? You can't do that" Keys: "McCartney did" Bass: "Well, you could put a capo at the 3rd fret and play it as an E" Gtr: "F*** off, people will think I'm a total amateur if I put a capo on" Rehearsal room manager: "5 minutes lads" All: "Oh b******s. Let's do Johnny B Goode" Gtr: "In C?" Bass: "No, it's in Bb" Ad inf.
Very good.
 8.
Don't like the Butterscotch as much and don't like the Sonic Blue at all... how much are these Skyline versions anyway ?
Street price in US is about $1250 passive with single coils or $1550 active with humbuckers and tap switch. Sounds a lot for an Indonesian bass but you got to remember that it's only the production of the bodies and necks that is done in Indonesia. The hardware and fret dressing with Plek machine etc is all done in Chicago. I guess by the time they are actually on sale in UK they will be about the same number of £.
 9.
Well, IMO asking me what is best between a Cliff Burton bass solo or a Jaco Pastorius bass solo is a bit like choosing between eating a worm or eating a snail. FWIW, that Cliff Burton thing sucks. I like the way he ROCKS OUT all the way through it. ha ha ha
+1 on all of that.
 10.
Another band I was in the guitarist had clearly learnt to play from watching 70's pornos. Every time we had a jam the same old porno 'waaaah wocka wocka wack wack wocka' came out. It only varied from song to song by the amount of flanger on it!
There was a lot of work in the 70s backing strippers.
 11.
That would be me then...well, I might recognise a chord chart. As long as it's in the key of A.
If you can recognise a chord chart then I don't mean you. My own theory etc is not very advanced but , sheesh, at least people should be willing to have a go at talking the formal language of music just as they should be willing to have a go at improvising.
 12.
Nice bass, but I prefer the cooker(good flooring too).
Did you like the fence?
 13. I've come across people who couldn't improvise and needed everything written out. However, I've also come across people who, when you say to them 'what scale are you using there?' or 'are you playing a diminished on the F?' or, 'I think you are going to the IV too early', or even 'here's a chord chart for this song' have not got the slightest idea what I am talking about. Both as bad as one another.
 14.
Think i might be tempted by one of these in the new year...liking the butterscotch one very much.
Lakland will, I believe, do you a butterscotch (or any other finish) but only in a US version at $4400 list price - I guess about $3000 street price which, the way things are going, will be about £3000 here in UK!!! The Skylines are only available in the trans burgundy. If you wanted a different colour on a Skyline you'd need to order a Limited Edition batch of thirty.
 15.
I've quietly been admiring the Decade - it does look reasonably original which isn't a common occurance nowadays ! I think it looks fantastic in that finish, can't think what it'd look better in either. Nice cooker too .
When at the Dudepit we were considering finishes for the intended DPLE the two main alternatives to the trans burgundy with rosewood and blocks, black headstock, and black pickguard were: 1. Butterscotch with maple and black blocks, plain headstock, and black pickguard (like Eric Halborg's US Decade in Swayback). which you gotta say looks pretty good although personally I wasn't so keen on the maple fingerboard. Does it beat the trans burgundy? 2. Sonic Blue with rosewood and blocks, plain headstock, and white pickguard (which unfortunately I don't any longer have a pic of but it also looked pretty good in the photoshops). The nearest pic I could find was this US Decade from the Lakland site in Ice Blue without the blocks. which you gotta say also looks pretty good. In the final vote the trans burgundy won easily. We were conscious that we were making a reference back to the Gibson EB0 and EB3 finishes. Dan and the other guys at Lakland really liked it and the rest is history as they say. The cooker is available in cream, red, and green as well as black.

NIGEL: Well don’t point, even. MARTY: Don’t even point? NIGEL: No. It can’t be played...never...I mean I.... MARTY: Can I look at it? NIGEL: No. MARTY: Don’t look at it. NIGEL: No, you’ve seen enough of that one.
 17.
I really like the bass playing on "Come on, come over". That's a quality tune. I just don't understand how that can come from the same person who makes that noise on stage.
+1. With Weather Report, he's excellent. With Joni, he's excellent. Even some of his solo stuff, excellent. But the OP's clip, absolutely awful. Embarrassingly awful.

 19. Very nice. Congratulations. Maybe you have to remove the neck to get at the truss rod?
 20.
Bl**dy Christmas post!
Well, that's slow even for Xmas post. My Decade left Lakland on Fri Dec 5th - left US Sat Dec 6th - at Heathrow Sun Dec 7th - I traced it Mon Dec 8th - paid the extortionate fees/tax Tue Dec 9th - out for delivery Wed Dec 10th. Mind you I missed the delivery man and didn't get it until Thurs Dec 11th. Otherwise it would have been only five days door to door. Anyway, it's going to sound great with the Dark Star. Congratulations.

 22.
... my score was twice as good with my eyes closed.
I was gonna make a joke about Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder but I decided it was best to get my coat.

 24.
On reflection I guess so.... Duck Dunn et al
I guess the Precision, like the Jazz, is found in most genres of popular music. And I still sound like me whichever I play.
