Absolutely knockout. And on sitting in ... I'd wait to be asked ... but then I'm probably not good enough to play with those guys anyway.
 2. Great guy, very easy to deal with. Recommended. Dave
 3.
I played a new Lakland JO 4-stringer the other week. Lovely bass with through body stringing, etc., but it had very narrow string spacing. Definitely not 19mm. Is this normal on Lakland jazz models?
0.78 inch on a 4 string says the website which is, I believe, in excess of 19mm. So, strange ...
 4.
Careful - I did that once and the little sh*t played it better than me
Oh. Boll*x.
 5.
There were S serial squiers coming out of Korea around 1989. I think I've got info bookmarked somewhere...
Yes S9***** can refer to Samick plant Korea 1989 (according to Wikipedia) but Guitar Dater Project gives Fuji-gen plant in Japan for this particular serial number. However the headstock must be correct and it is a 1989 Samick built Korean Squier and not Japanese Silver Series.
 6. Mind you the serial checks out as made in Japan (Fuji-gen plant) not Korea as stated on the headstock.
 7. If it's a 'Silver Series' shouldn't it have 'Silver Series' written on the point of the headstock and be made in Japan not Korea? Like this:
 8. Fortunately I don't play with any guitarists with those attitudes. But if I did, I'd just say 'Here, you try' and hand them the fretless.
 9.
Dude, jakes pmed Gman and says he will post the bass tommorow. However having backups is a good idea. -Rob.
Rob, I'm in Brighton and I could, if needed, collect it tomorrow evening. But I'm somewhat tied up for getting to a post office with it both at the weekend and early next week - especially if it's not already packed and ready to go. Let me know if I can do anything useful.
 10.
Ditto Dave, but I really can't justify 2 precisions
But have you got Lakland GAS?
 11.
One thing I did do was to go straight out and buy some PP9's ... in the process discovering that no one calls them "PP9's" any more. I think he means a 9-volt battery, you know, one of those funny square ones. Go on, ask him. I really am getting too old for this sh1t.
They still call them PP9s in my local newsagent but then the bloke in there is even older than me.
 12. A few months ago, and maybe in a few months time I would be on this like a shot. Beautiful with the black pickguard.
 13.
I believe my Indonesian Daisy Rock Elite Bass & Peavey Millenium fiver came out of cort's factory. The quality is great. Both are very playable and very good sounding & looking basses and certainly giggable however one was £200 new and the other was £135 secondhand. Neither was amazing until I set them up though but at least the frets were good without needing a levelling. I guess Lakland will be putting the production savings into the work done in Chicago.
I think the likes of the Daisy Rock will be fully manufactured in Indonesia while the Lakland Skyline bodies and necks were CNC machined in Korea and now Indonesia but the electronics are still done in Chicago. Fret dressing is also done in Chicago, now on the PLEK machine.
 14.
if this means lower prices I'm happy. My Indonesian Squiers are excellent and with Lakland construction ( Ibelieve they assemble the Skylines in their Chicago plant from foreign parts) then I'm sure they'll be as good as they are now
It doesn't mean lower prices. Skyline prices are staying the same. Although Lakland US prices increase 10% on January 1st. Lakland seem to think that the Indonesian quality is even better than the Korean and the benchwork and Plekking will still be done in Chicago. It's the Cort factory in Indonesia which apparently does the Squier VM series and the G&L Tributes. The Laklands will be their top of the line. There's lots of posts about this at Talkbass including from Lakland guys themselves.
 15.
That looks really nice! Both retro & individual at the same time. I was listening to the recordings of the new inhouse pickups on the Lakland site this morning. They sound excellent! Rich.
Thanks, Rich. Yes, I really like the retro looks with the Gibson bass colours but it is individual at the same time. And yes, the pickups sound good to me too, I'm very excited about it. Hear the Chi-sonic pickups on a Joe Osborn
 16.
Ouch! looks very nice though...it's the only thing that's given me GAS lately...sort of glad you didn't say £700 quid or thereabouts...would have had to order one then maybe next year though
My guess is that they are going to be somewhere around £1200, maybe £1300 retail in the UK. The cheapest way to get one will definitely be used from the US. If I'm correct that Lakland are going to sell a lot of these there will inevitably be some going up for sale in the coming months. US ebay is the place to look I think.
 17.
probs one of the nicest basses i've ever seen. i love it.
Thanks.
 18.
Very nice Dave, well worth the wait. Thought I'd got rid of any Lakland GAS.
Thanks. Wait until you see the real quality pics of it I'll be taking.
 19.
No Darkstars then?
Nope, not Dark Stars but Chi-sonics
 20.
Now, that is nice...how much?
Well, including customs duty, at $2 to the £ I think it was going to be about £830 including shipping but at $1.50 to the fallen £ it's looking more like close to £1000. So, not cheap, but I think still cheaper than you'll actually be able to buy one in UK. Although I've not seen any UK/Euro dealers offering them on pre-order. I hope I like it.
 21. Excellent collection, lovely pictures, and very nice garden furniture too. +1 on the Warmoth Dark Starred SG
 22.
Whos got my DPLE1 own up I want it back?
I knew you shouldn't have sold that.
