Some of those critical reviews have dates years ago. One as early as 2013. Many from 2017.

People can play what they want; indeed they do. He says he really wanted an instrument that was going to challenge him. Fair enough, because that is exactly why I play four strings.

Maybe what some of you consider a tribute band should change its name to No.

What recent reviews?

I am standing outside the gig with the drummer. I am smoking a roll-up and he has a small cigar. Drummer says 'My mate's coming tonight, he's a bassist. Proper bassist, five strings, everything'. I say 'Jaco only needed four strings'. Drummer says 'Yes, Jaco only needed four, but you can't manage any more than four'. I say 'It doesn't really matter how many strings'. Drummer says 'Yes, that's true, you've either got it or you haven't, however many strings'. His mate never turned up.

Of course he's a four string player. Like the great majority of bassists. I suspect most people would know that.

Anyway, for what it's worth, I expect the original Thunderbirds and Embassies were factory fitted with flats.

I've got GHS Precision Flats on an Epiphone Embassy PRO with T'bird pickups and it sounds great to me. I do use a VT Bass pedal with the mids boosted slightly.

Surely it's just a reflection from a window.
