  1. Tapewounds are wound with plastic and are usually roundwound under the tape ... http://www.bassstringsonline.com/Black-Nylon-Tapewounds_ep_49-1.html
  2. So Maradona doesn't like flats?
  3. Maybe I'm imagining it, but I seem to recall reading or hearing an interview with Rainey where he says about 'Kid Charlemagne' that he himself couldn't play it entirely true to the original. Or something to that sort of effect.
  4. I was in a band where the drummer had a Porsche 911. Forunately he also had a large BMW SUV. He was very organised and could keep accurate time.
  5. It really shouldn't take long but it does depend on how much time is given to it and whether anyone does their homework.
  6. Yep, had that experience more than once ... and it wasn't just one chord that was wrong ... IMHO If someone thought my chord/arpeggio was not right I'd like to hear about it.
  7. Too complicated, I'd say.
  8. The pound shop.
  9. I find the yellow alternative both matches the bass and has a gentler tone.
  10. It's not plagiarism to quote other people, although it would be common in written work to reference the sources. And musicians, including Bowie, have been sampling and quoting each other from time immemorial. For example, The Jean Jeanie quotes from the Yardbirds version of Bo Diddley's I'm a Man. Original, insofar as it exists at all, is always built upon the work of others.
  11. Perhaps you could have got in early with that on page one.
  12. .. and if I was playing for Mancini and he wanted to call it 'NC' then so be it but it's still the same notes
  13. Surely that ought to be Esus4(b5)/A?
  14. I just named it. I don't at all imagine I am the first.
  15. Asus(flat2) ... maybe. Do I win?
  16. Watching a second time, I feel more disturbed by the hair than the miming.
  17. Perhaps the band never played on the recording so they didn't actually know how to mime to it ... or simply couldn't be bothered. Anyway, back in those days many rockers thought it pretentious actually to mime, so better to take the fosters.
  18. A very tasty five note chord.
  19. It seems to be the case that there is, rightly or wrongly, some disputation as to whether a two note dyad constitues a chord in the fullest sense. But if the musical director said 'I would like a two note chord played there please, C-G, if you don't mind', I wouldn't question his use of the word chord. I'd just play the notes.
  20. Some people did feel that way about it.
  21. First edition of Harmonielehre 1911, I believe. Schoenberg, of course, was confident enough to take liberties with traditional harmony.
