    Perhaps the band never played on the recording so they didn't actually know how to mime to it ... or simply couldn't be bothered. Anyway, back in those days many rockers thought it pretentious actually to mime, so better to take the fosters.

    It seems to be the case that there is, rightly or wrongly, some disputation as to whether a two note dyad constitues a chord in the fullest sense. But if the musical director said 'I would like a two note chord played there please, C-G, if you don't mind', I wouldn't question his use of the word chord. I'd just play the notes.

    Almost always, probably really always, my bass lines are things I have 'sampled', 'recycled', 're-used', 'heard before', 'reinterpreted', etc., and sometimes I don't even know where they came from, but they came from somewhere. And musicians have always copied, always sampled ... it's only the copying technology changing that allows new forms of sampling.

    Depends on the material, depends on the gig. More and more big touring bands have autocues on iPads. Elton John has one on his piano and one at front of stage so he can see it wherever he is looking.
