1. Strange to say but the Osmonds are better dancers.
 2. Here's another one, miming again, Ace Kefford with Slab and Roy Wood with a Bass VI ... http://youtu.be/4GHe5BPb6Yg
 3.
The film Whiplash springs to mind.
I understand the connection but I enjoyed that film more than Buddy Rich ranting.
 4.
... James Brown behaved in a very similar way (but it would take a lot to put me off his music)!
I saw an interview with Bootsy Collins being asked 'what was it like working for James Brown?'. Collins replied that 'It was like being in the army'.
 5.
Surely I'm not the only on who has the opinion that a bass sounds better if you beat the living crap out of it.... am I?
Really? Are you serious?
 6. Will you be doing the dancing? http://youtu.be/CS8ZfVTE4SM
 7.
Yes!
It looks like one but does it sound like one? (I know it's miming on Top of the Pops and it may well not be what was used in the studio but ... hey ... nonetheless ... does it sound like a 66 Slab P?)
 8.
I think as bassists we should strive to do it all - the right technique for the right sound - fingers, muted thumb, slap/pop, pick, tap, skip and hop.... In essence play what sounds right.
I have no interest in striving to do it all ... Nor any interest in telling other bassists how they should play.
 9. Does this look like a 66 Slab Precision? http://youtu.be/kM-y1a1oeCo
 10.
Perhaps that's part of it: there's an attitude among some guitarists that playing bass is something any guitarist could do, so to counter this some bass players want to emphasise that "real" bass playing isn't like that!
Maybe, but most of the guitarists I play with don't use a pick but use fingers the same as me.
 11. If anyone complains about a bass player using a pick I would usually comment 'but you think it's ok to use frets'.
 12.
... Ive read conflicting reports on the difference between the FL and FS sets. Some say there is little to no difference whereas some say the seemingly small difference in gauge belies the rather significant difference in tension.
I'd say the difference in gauge (FL=43-60-82-104 versus FS=45-65-85-105) belies a rather more significant difference in tension than one might expect. Also, if it matters to anyone, FL have red silks while FS have black silks
 13. Tuning up a semitone (F-Bb-Eb-Ab) won't hurt your neck. But I don't at all understand why you need to do that. And really, if the guitarist can't tune faster than that, then sack him.
 14. It's a non-tremolo version of a Fender Jaguar or Bass VI tailpiece. I can't see now who has them in Europe but I'm sure someone does because I almost bought one about a year ago.
 15. 30" scale Bass VI needs a normal 34" scale gig bag.
 16. I don't exactly know but the spec for the two on the Fender site is exactly the same except for the different product numbers.
 17.
I might still consider fitting a second string tree for the D and G strings.
I did that. It does help.
 18.
... Sinatra At The Sands ...
One of my all time favourite albums.
 19. Congratulations to Alex and Barefaced. Commerford is a high profile player, whether or not you know who he is and whether or not you like his tone*. Having him using your manufactured equipment is fantastic. *I knew who Commerford was but I can't say I care too much one way or the other about his tone. I have no idea what a 'tone fiend' or 'daddy of bass tone' can possibly mean other than 'I like his tone'. If I was using a Barefaced cab I doubt I would sound anything like Commerford.
 20.
... I was told that the angle of the head I.e. the angle it leans back away from the nut certainly makes a difference to the tension, so perhaps a reverse headstock would do the same. I've certainly noticed differences between basses even when they are all 34" scale. I use exactly the same strings on my Precision as on my Stingray, but they certainly feel 'slacker' on the Stingray. In fact I'm just in the process of ordering the next gauge up for the Stingray to try and get them feeling more alike.
Tension, by definition, is only affected by three things: 1 Vibrating length of the string (from bridge saddle to nut). 2 Mass per unit length of the string. 3 Pitch to which the string is tuned. Nothing beyond the bridge or beyond the nut can have any effect on tension. However, compliance or elasticity - i.e. how the string 'feels' - may be affected by other factors such as round-core or hex-core construction, steeper break angles, length of string beyond nut or bridge. Meanwhile the tension must remain the same. http://www.liutaiomo.../perception.htm
 21.
A white bass collection - pretty cool!
I used to be in a band with a guitarist with five white Stratocasters - each tuned differently, mostly open tunings, and variant pickup arrangements.
 22. Am I remembering correctly that there was a BT in between BW and BC?
