1. The 'I Want You Back' bassline, like a lot of great basslines, works all on its own without the rest of the music; it's a tune in itself.
 2. Wilton Felder on bass (also sax with the Jazz Crusaders) ... http://youtu.be/z91l_lPz1oc
 3. Are we going to see the after cleaning pics?
 4. When I first played this one I thought someone was trying to break into my house ... http://youtu.be/IxXiIa1cNFI

 6.
If someone has a regular, fully stock '66 Precision, maybe we should do a direct sound comparison with my stock slab? Maybe one for a bassbash?
Very good idea and even better if one had a small collection of fully stock '66 Precisions to compare because I bet they don't all sound exactly the same.
 7.
"I'll be there for you" is right up there with "Walking on Sunshine" on my list of songs that make me want to go on a killing spree.
So, you blame it on the sunshine.
 8.
Larry Taylor who played with Canned Heat, John Mayall and others (and is up there with Bernard Edwards, Jamerson et al in my humble opinion) popped up on Talkbass pointing out he had a black one which appears on Canned Heat's performance on the film Monterey Pop - he also said he bought it in a regular shop on the States. Quite interesting because I'd never even noticed before and his story appeared to fly in the face of the written legend on the slab P basses somewhat. Monterey was 1967?
See Larry Taylor at Monterey with slab Precision in the video above.
 9. Is this a black slab-bodied Precision?
 10.
What you are going to find is that the majority of designs date from the early 60s when these basses were generally studio instruments for doubling up the double bass line for the "tic-tac" sound and technology was still relatively primitive. Even the modern examples tend to follow these old designs rather slavishly - like the bass you currently own.
I'll have to agree with that.
Nice! I'll have a go at fixing up my VI first.
But they can still have a more (rather than less) effective setup.
 11. Loads of tips re Fender/Squier Bass VI in this 151 page thread ... http://offsetguitars.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=71490
 12.
Okay it's a Takamine, but as a fretless f hole electro acoustic bass, is it any better than the Aria Elecord? http://pages.ebay.co...lobalID=EBAY-GB
The B10/TB10 is unlike an Elecord because it has a very different tail piece and bridge and, most important, it has an arched top and has a curved fingerboard rather like a double bass. I'd say that the Elecord is just another acoustic bass guitar. The B10/TB10 is more like a miniature strap it on double bass, both in feel and sound, and less like a bass guitar.
 13.
A body, a neck, strings, bridge, tuners and pickups
... and possibly frets?
 14. Thread resurrection but ... I have La Bella 760M Original 54 set on my Precision and tuned DGCF. Very good if you ask me.
 15.
Lightheartedness seems to be in short supply on here recently.
Yeah, people worrying because I called a stereotypical, not funny, and heard it a thousand times before comment 'totally stupid'. It's fair comment on my part so lighten up.
 16.
Woah, calm down!...:-s
I'm completely calm. Otherwise I would have used an exclamation mark like yourself.
 17.
Maybe they paid him to stop
Totally stupid comment.
 18.
I think I read on here that Alembic made an exceptions to their 'no endorsements/freebies' policy for Stanley Clarke and Mark King. Did Wal do any kind of deal with Paul McCartney when he was using his 5-string?
The Wal website says McCartney paid for his bass ... 19.
... Hey, if You guys don't want them,we'd be glad to take them. Blue
Wasn't it a US citizen that murdered a Beatle? Wasn't it US citizens who burned Beatles records? I think we'll keep them.
 20. Subject to the possibility that 'cool' is interminably subjective ... I have seen many very uncool bassists.
