1.
Please enlighten me bud..my ears are starving as always.
http://youtu.be/9Q2F2TaRghE
2. That sounds like a medium scale string got mixed in with a long scale set at the La Bella factory. Email them and they might send a replacement.
3.
Guys, apologies I've just realised the last clip on the labellas has messed up automation! Will fix and change! Sorry!
I've not actually listened to them yet due to being in Spain and only on phone, so not worth listening to bass. I'll try to listen tomorrow. And I still can't quite get over you calling GHS Precision Flats 'super stiff'.
4.
The holy grail tone im after is the tone Baz Fratelli gets on The Fratellis songs Look Out Sunshine, Mistress Mabel etc on the album Here We Stand
I'm not very familiar with The Fratellis but the bass tone will not be the result of strings alone and anyway will probably sound different when isolated from the rest of the band.
5.
I have fun whenever I play, however I don't play for fun and I don't get it. Blue
... and they wouldn't get you.
6. Do whatever works for you. I use one finger, occasionally two, never more.
7. I would describe the DR flats as quite bright - which I would not usually like but I am now liking them.
8. I have DR Legend flats on my Lakland Decade.
9. 'Mostly people's opinion' is probably correct. I would have called La Bella 760FS much more tense than GHS Precisions.
10. But if they are out of control and not playing for the band then either you leave or they get sacked. That's how I would see it. EDIT: Life's too short.
11. If out of control then it's irrelevant what instrument is being played.
12.
... £1300 for an American 75 RI..????
The 74 American Vintage is £1686 at Dolphin.

14. According to Brian Wilson it's Carol Kaye on Fender bass ... http://www.uncut.co.uk/features/the-making-of-the-beach-boys-good-vibrations-34867
15. Lipsync only but, nonetheless, Carl Wilson miming bass .... http://youtu.be/mdt0SOqPJcg
16. Same film but introductory comments from Brian Wilson etc. ...
17.
Interesting comments re CK. I've just seen a clip of the Beach Boys doing Good Vibrations. There are 2 bass players you see one an upright player, with a possible third. The main 2 definitely aren't Carol kaye. While Carol Never dressed girly, the third doesn't really look like her either. You only get a view from side slightly behind. It's a clip posted directly to Facebook, so I can't work out how to post a link to it here.
Is it this? http://youtu.be/d8rd53WuojE The Fender bass player looks very much like Carl Wilson. Carol Kaye may well have been on a Bass VI but couldn't see her in the clip.
18. The 'I Want You Back' bassline, like a lot of great basslines, works all on its own without the rest of the music; it's a tune in itself.
19. Wilton Felder on bass (also sax with the Jazz Crusaders) ... http://youtu.be/z91l_lPz1oc
20. Are we going to see the after cleaning pics?
21. I sound roughly the same whatever I play.
22. When I first played this one I thought someone was trying to break into my house ... http://youtu.be/IxXiIa1cNFI
23. This is slightly more tuneful ... http://youtu.be/vTqv6ICeGEk
24.
If someone has a regular, fully stock '66 Precision, maybe we should do a direct sound comparison with my stock slab? Maybe one for a bassbash?
Very good idea and even better if one had a small collection of fully stock '66 Precisions to compare because I bet they don't all sound exactly the same.
25.
"I'll be there for you" is right up there with "Walking on Sunshine" on my list of songs that make me want to go on a killing spree.
So, you blame it on the sunshine.
