  1. Thanks BRX, the riddle is solved! The link you gave was very informative, my mic is very definately a FAKE. It weighs 247 grammes against over 300 for a real one. The writing on the box is fake. If you unscrew the top it screws on to a plastic thread wheras the real one is metal There are other things as well. So I think I know where the problem lies and it's going back to crack converters. Thanks for your help guys, it's appreciated. Tom.
  2. I've just tried again using a Laney Afresco 30w acoustic amp which has no phantom power switch and I have to turn it until it's almost feeding back and even then there isn't enough volume to be heard beyond about 8 feet. So why do my other 58's work so well with phantom on and like the above without?? They have done for years. Yes the mic/line button is in for mic.
  3. Ok, I've used these mic's for years and without phantom power they are useless through a Roland ac 60 acoustic amp. My other sm 58's work fine with phantom power with no issues. this one works but with a loud buzz. If I plug in and switch on there is no volume to speak of but when I switch phantom on, which is what Roland tell me that I need to do my other ones work fine.
  4. Hiya, does anyone know who can repair shure sm58's please? I bought a used one that's like new, box and all. It's fine until I turn on phantom power and then there's a loudish buzzing noise. Cheers, Tom.
  5. I had the single and the double pickup versions, great basses but heavy old hectors..
  6. Harley Benton sounds like the 'James Nelligan' guitar that Stagg produce. The rep called in my shop on his monthly visit and I asked who JN was and he told me he was an accountant in their German office....
  7. Marinus, that looks stunning, I'm almost! Do the original pickups come with it? Take care. Tom.
  8. Oi! peculiar? you need talk yer tart, you're from Darlo' ...
  9. I agree with everyone strangely....
  10. Great buyer! Lovely guy to deal with, very fast payment and great comms. A real gentleman of the Basschat parish, Thanks Claudio.
  11. The only trade I'm really interested in would be a 2eq Stingray with a maple board that weighs around 8.5 lbs. I thought that was what I'd bought so the hunt goes on. Who would swap a light bass for a heavy one? Right....
  12. I actually have a 2007 Teal and maple 'ray that weighs 8.2 lbs!
  13. I've only just got this having been told twice that it weighs 8.5 lbs, it really does not! The real weight of this beautiful bass is 10.85 lbs. Which is why I'm selling it. I'm 74 with a glass shoulder and a very bad back. This is a quality reissue of the 1976 Stingray, When Mr Fender started the company. It has the dampers and the white pickup cover to finish it off, in the flesh (or wood) it looks amazing and plays wonderfully well being a 2eq. I can't tell you how disappointed I am over this bass, I love it and you will too. The price includes delivery. ****I should add that the only trade I would consider is another Stingray that weighs 8.5 lbs, 2eq, Maple board.**** Please buy it.
  14. I really am unhappy at having to leave negative feedback and can only tell the truth. I bought the Fiesta red Stingray with that gorgeous birdseye maple neck from Col on the clear understanding that it weighed 8.5 lbs. He weighed it on his old scales and said it was around 8.5 lbs, I said are you really sure? Col said he'd ordered a set of Salter scales from Amazon and when they arrived he confirmed that it was 8.5 lbs on them too so I agreed to buy it. Couldn't wait, it's a wonderful bass so imagine my surprise when I picked it up out of the case, it felt heavy to me so I got my digital postal scales out and the reality is that it weighs 10.85 lbs! Felt like it too. I'm 74 with a glass shoulder and a very bad back so it's useless to me. I immediately contacted him to return it but he's spent the money. I never spend the money until I know my customer is satisfied. I don't think that 2 sets of scales can be exactly 2.5 lbs out. The upshot is that I cannot recommend Col to deal with because I feel that I've really been let down. Tom.
