  1. That sounds fantastic Trevor.
  2. I know how you feel. I sold my Stingray to Linus27 of this parish and have regretted it ever since. If you're out there Linus I'd like it back please?
  3. Thanks guys, I am looking forward to it, we will meet him before for a sound check and other things. I followed the Manfreds in the early 60's, I loved those old songs and he is a great blues singer and harmonica player. I didn't realise he was retiring from the blues show, heck he's only 77! Just a youth really... He'll be there singing 'The Lord's my shepherd' (newer version) so we will have played with him if you squint a little
  4. Sunday night we have Paul Jones from Manfred Mann & his wife coming to our church to give testimony and sing. We get to play a worship song at the beginning and maybe wallpaper music before as people come in. Should be good.

    MONITORS.

Thanks guys, although I like bass (of course!) they would do for now. However, late last night I realised that my output was set to headphones . so I changed it to computer and now the sound comes through the tower that has 2 6" woofers in it. Great but no stereo separation. Schoolboy error.... Onwards and upwards, thanks to all.

    MONITORS.

Can I just reiterate that I have no need at the moment for excellence in anything I'm doing, I just want to set up a means of recording stuff that's in my head onto my Mac. I don't need anything amazing until I know what I'm doing and if I get sick of doing it I don't want to be lumbered with a lot of expensive gear. My setup as of today is: A 27" Mac a Focusrite 2i2 interface for guitars etc' An M-Audio mini 32 keystation Headphones. and Garageband. My Mac speaker is bypassed and is now connected to a tower thing that plays all kinds of sticks and cards as well as acting as my mac speaker.\At the moment the only sound off my bass which I have just recorded a test line is coming through the headphones, but I want to hear it through speakers as well, so does my wife. How do I connect the machinery so the sound comes out of my main speaker? There are 2 monitor outs on the 2i2. Told you I'm not very good with this stuff.
  8. So Tonetech then, I'll have a look. cheers.
  9. Hi all, is there anywhere in the UK to buy sandpaper in strips for a beam fret sander please? Can't seem to find anyone... ta much. tom.

  11. Another day another perfect deal with Iain. Bought a beautiful Antigua P bass and as ever it is in mint condition, well packed. Thanks Iain, you're a real gent. Tom.
  12. Thanks for your input. What I want from this is to just experiment with playing music into my Mac, organising it and perhaps making a few backing tracks for our church band. On top of that it would be good to play about with the software sounds to see what I can create. All simple stuff really.... except it isn't
  13. I'm a beginner, very much so and I'm not looking to make a career out of it because I'm too old now. I dabbled a bit on a Yamaha YS100 back in the 80's. I still have it in the loft. Anyone remember them?

    MONITORS.

HI all, just starting out soooo... do I need active monitors or will passive be ok? thanks.
  15. Last bump, withdrawn after this. Then it'll get modded.
  16. Thanks guys, I will do that. The keyboard looks ideal, is it polyphonic? can I play etherial strings etc'? or is that done using one key? I don't know how they work and the advert doesn't say.
  17. Forgive me guys, I've just found the recording forum . I feel like a fool now... sorry it's my age I didn't know it was there, (shakes head) burger...
  18. Now I'm starting to look forward to this, as said I have a Mac and g/band so I'm going to order a 2i2 or a 2i4. I'll also need monitor speakers so any inexpensive recommendations? You get what you pay for I know but which ones?? thanks. ALSO Can anyone recommend a small keyboard to input synth/chorus type sounds please?
  19. MUMMY!!! It sounds like you are near the bottom of the slope, I'm getting a lot of really good advice here so what do you all think of buying the Scarlet 2i2 and setting sail with garageband? Just to see where it goes.....
  20. Good advice, thanks very much.
  21. Thanks, I have SM57's and 58's for live stuff so covered there. I have G band so I'll try that and see how I get on. I looked at a couple tutorials on toob but he went too fast to follow, a fault of a lot of tutorials. The Focusrite 2i2 seems popular so I'm off to read about it.
  22. Thanks for the input so far. It's a minefield isn't it? I think I will dig garageband out and give it another go first, if I can work out how to shift to track two...
  23. For a long time I've wanted to record a few songs with around 5-6 instruments purely for my own amusement. I have a Mac and said instruments but where do I start? I've never done this before and I'm aware that I need an interface to get the music from the instruments to the mac but what to use? It needs to be simple and effective, I know Focusrite make lots of stuff but I have no idea what to buy, or software? I have garageband somewhere and I tried that. I laid down one track and for the life of me couldn't work out how to switch the damn thing to track two. Any help to get me started would be much appreciated. tom.
  24. I have a P Lyte and as I never use jazz bridge pickups mine sits redundant, I only bought it because it was a P and it's very light. (no pun intended)
