I bought a P with my name on it (Legend) off ebay for 40 quid delivered. Plywood body and generic everything but the neck is fabulous and has the worn in feel to it, and it's maple! So I was bored and sanded the 3 colour sunburst down and sprayed it post office red, firred a gotoh bridge, fender tuners and a usa pickup. The result is a superb, easy to play bass with some real grunt.. weighs 7.8 lbs... but you've heard all this before haven't you? So I won't bore you with it.......

I've had a really bad back for more years than I can remember so my P Lyte at 7.5 lbs is perfect. I had John Shuker make me a maple board and he fitted me an SD-SPB1 pickup and it's perfect now, one of the best basses I've ever owned. So good I'm looking for another to give it the same treatment and have it for a backup. I have to say though that standing there with my USA P bass is a great feeling, just too heavy.

Just bought one of these again although they only do it as a kit http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_squier_affinity_p_bass_set_bb.htm beautifully made with a big thump.
