1. Just had a quick play, it seems to reproduce an excellent P sound to my ear, don't know about any others 'cos I cannot really distinguish one bass sound from another. I really need the dough so I'm reducing it to £180 posted for a quick sale.
2. sorry, didn't get that at all, I don't look at dresses much these days, I find classic cars more interesting
3. Paul, I'll have a play today and report back as I can't remember, it's powerful though. It lights up the room it's hanging in. I've had quite a lot of interest via PM.
4. Retrotovibe advertise here so I can't see there being a problem unless you are trying to make it a one? In fact this very model was advertised here on the main page not long ago.
5. Thanks guys, plays every bit as well as it looks too.
6. Unplayed due to arthritis getting significantly worse so my loss will be someone else's gain. Immaculate condition with a low action and very easy to play if you don't have arthritis Looking for £395 posted to uk address. 7. As title, bought the last one recently and it's been used at home for about 10 mins, awesome powerful beast with looks to die for. I want £199 posted because it's new and unmarked. 8. Hi all, I have a mint Precision Lyte with the P/J setup and acitve pre', I find the P pickup weedy but the weight is perfect for me so the question is: I have a spare SD-SPB-1 pickup going spare so would it go straight in as a direct replacement? would it cause any issues doing that? I know I should get a better preamp but it's wasted on me, I don't ever use the J pickup. I just want a lightweight precision out of it. thanks for any help/advice.
9. The bass I bought is excellent, can't fault it I bought a stinger pre to put in my SUB 4 and I'm having problems with a few of the soldered wire connections on it dropping off, given up for the moment as I can't get it to work.
10.
Also: Rickenbackers have no low end. Ashdowns are ill-defined and muddy. Gibson have never made a decent bass.
Totally agree about Ashdowns, they can be very muddy and indistinct, I drove miles to buy one and then drove miles back again without it. Poor miles I now only use Orange & Trace Elliott.
11. hahahahaha what a problem to have never heard that before. this is a tribute and quite new so maybe it's that? G&L pickups were always loud on my L-2000's but on this I have to have it cranked up quite a bit to get it loud enough, the tone is fine though. Thanks Ham for your input I think I'll get a set and give it a go.
12. Anyone tried these passive pickups? Any good? My new G&L sb2 is a bit quiet so fancy a change.
13. Oh God, I can resist everything but temptation, get thee behind me etc'
14. Just sold Sam a P bass and he is great to deal with, excellent comms, really friendly guy. Paid promptly and is a true gent of the basschat manor. Hope you enjoy your new bass mate. tom.
15. Just bought the best bass ever from Stu, really well packed, totally mint as described, couldn't ask for more. True gent of the basschat manor. Thanks mate. Tom.
16. I'm just a hack and haven't been playing that long so I'm not good on things like cut and boost Colin so I'll try and explain how it feels better to me: when I turn the bass knob now there is a much smoother transition to a deeper bass thump, (is that boost?) more progressive than the original pot. The treble control is the same, the volume before was nothing, nothing, 'bl**dy hell that's loud' and now it's a lot more gradual, like it should be. I don't understand why sterling put stuff out like this? to me it's quite unplayable without a lot of fiddling about with amp settings. hope that helps.
17. Colin that's a great looking bass and with those low cost mods why spend more on an expensive model? well done sir.
18. Yes mine is much easier to control now plus I don't need to alter the amp settings if I change bass mid flow, my memory is poor now
19. Neck is fine for me, I'm used to precisions so it feels smaller, yellercar, yes just 4 wires to solder and that's it, if you can solder it's a doddle
20. I fitted the Stinger preamp yesterday and it's transformed the bass, in fact I've put my amp levels back and it's very articulate too, I'm glad I did it.
21. That looks fabulous! gorgeous colour but no maple neck so that's why I bought the black one. I fitted the Stinger preamp yesterday and it's transformed the bass, in fact I've put my amp levels back and it's very articulate too, I'm glad I did it.
