1. No worries Dunky, I've put a load of pics in the 1st thread....
2. Thanks for the advice guys, it is hellish hot! volume & gain down by half so I've ordered the stinger pre-amp to hopefully tame it a bit.....
3.
Come on Tom, you know the score. Pictures please.
oops, thought I'd got away with that I'll take some today. Is the stinger a straight swap Raslee?
4. Dunno if this has been done but never mind. I recently tried out a black Musicman that was almost a grand and didn't buy it so I wondered how much different the SUB 4 would be. Same setup ie' black with a maple board. I ordered this from Musik Produktiv in Germany and it arrived today, excellent service. It was playable out of the box but I like a very low action so I gave the neck a quarter turn and dropped the saddles a tad (might have been a midges?) The result is a powerful sound but the preamp is not the best. It now has a very low choke and rattle free action. Only other thing was the fret edges which were quite rough in places so I spent time filing them because the rest of the bass was so good it's a keeper. Apart from the bits mentioned there's not £800 of difference imo. Have I read somewhere that I can buy a new active preamp for this that'll improve it? Oh and the cost of this loveliness? £225 delivered free. Pics: Hope y'all happy now
5. I've bought a few new MIM's lately and they are very variable, my current white one has immensley powerful pickups and a slightly chunky neck than a couple of the others and I haven't had a bad one. I have owned USA & Squiers too, in fact the one I really should have hung on to was a honeyburst Squier P with a maple board, it was awesome.
6. The cream one is just my thing, shame you're so far away. GLWTS
7. oh it's one of them.......
8. Karl, if you're just up the road from me call in for a cawfee if you have time fella.
9. Crikey Mike, you're giving it away These are astonishingly good basses, I'm really glad it has a rosewood neck or I'd HAVE to buy it...
10. I don't get how basses like these can be so good? I mean you people are experts and I'm not, I'd love to own a bass that felt 'comfortable' and worn in. Maybe if I tried one I might be a convert, I dunno as I'm still searching for the holy grail and getting nowhere, a new P is as close as I've got. I've just ordered one of these as I've heard very good reports about them, who knows, we'll see. Oops forgot the link: http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/bass_guitars_detail.asp?stock=15010913084358 burp
11. Sorry, no interest in Ants Rich, but the bass looks very cool, have a bump sir.
12. Thanks guys, Steven James at Middlesbrough has one, I'll go and have a play.
13. ^^^^^^^^ Neepheid, thanks for that, I think, quite impressive what lightweight tuners can do, how much are they? Got a cure for falling forward? (the bass I mean, not me) then I'll buy one.
14. Thanks for your imp...err report Dave, I was considering a JCB but I won't buy one now. I've been told they are great sounding but the neck dive however slight would make my already weak arms worse and having to stop it tipping forward as well would be too much for me. It's a shame Epiphone couldn't strengthen the upper bout to take a strap pin. Oh well, Fender it stays then.
15. Made in England That just has a ring about it
16. no trades unless it's a stingray with a maple board & mint, obviously I'd add cash to that.
17. Thanks for the kind words guys, if anything the red is slightly lighter than the pics, stunning bass though.
18. As I have just bought a Stingray and have 2 of these I am selling this one. It is in 'as new' condition and is fitted with the chrome covers AND an SD-SPB-1 pickup, sounds fabulous, no chips or marks of any kind. The neck is quite slim being the new model and the weight is just 8.3 lbs! I paid £501 for it new and with the mods I reckon it's worth £400 all day long. The price includes next day delivery to UK mainland Pics: It will have standard straplocks on when sent. Thanks for looking.
19. Karl, for some reason the link in post three goes to my Photobucket?? I thought my MX5 looked familiar
20. I can't buy it for the same reason you're selling it Karl m' boy, maple boards rule! Good luck with the sale, shouldn't hang about.
21. Hmmmm.... Having owned a music shop until I retired in 2009 I must agree with Moosh &WayneP, if the stock is dusty, out of tune and neglected then you don't deserve to succeed imo. I had a young lad come in just after school 3 times a week asnd he tuned every guitar, bass, mandolin etc' in the shop, I know how to look after people as I'm one of the old brigade (ask Kiogon, he knows about service too) The only problems having a shop are the people that come in to try a guitar or bass and then buy it online! When they get it and there's a fault they then bring it to me and ask me to fix it because 'you're the dealer for these'. got very short shrift off me albeit very politely What to stock? that was the hard part because if I had 6 strats and 3 tele's I would have the wrong colours It's one of the reasons I retired, the net killed it, you can't have it all ways can you? Net prices or a service? you choose.
