1. Another bumpin' Can add money for a really nice, vintage-y but most importantly, giggable semi acoustic. Can add money for a nice boutiquey/moderney Jazz.
  2. I'd love a Guild Starfires, Epiphone Rivoli's, EB-2Bs'.. i realise some of these might mean more money from me, so if so just say. Would also be interested in 'modern' P-Basses with P/J pups - with money from myself - Sadowsky, Valenti you know the type. OR a Rick 4003. Also, if you have any of the above i might be able to do a cash offer.
  3.
and you really need to practice for 16 hours a week? that's mental, what on earth kind of music are you trying to play?
Post-rock-ish. Mogwai with Portishead... kinda. Its difficult, because i've joined like a few weeks ago and have 10 songs to learn. I've nailed 6 or 7 thus far.
  4.
where are you practicing? there are some places with nice gear for similar prices ive used in the burgh
Tried coloursound, gjsm, horizon, banana row recently. Not a fan of any for one reason or another. I think its whats necessary - i am a god awful player after all
  5.
Not really on topic, but do you really need to practice for more than 8 hours a week? That's a lot of practice hours!
We're looking at doubling that... I think a farm would be quite cool, i used to live on one actually. We had barns and a pottery. Damn, that would've been good
  6. We've been making do with practice rooms, and the prices aren't astronomical (that £40 is at peak time and for 4 hours btw) but we're slowly just getting tired of the sub-standard equipment that either sounds crap or doesn't work at all. We're also wanting to actually work on our live sound, which is difficult to do without your own gear there. Okay, so a lot of places let you store gear and stuff - but it usually costs unless you're in tight with the owner.
  7. I like to do a lot of laptop rooted experimenting and i couldn't make sounds half as weird as his. He has a creative mind many would envy, but the product - that is his music - is what many would call.. well, rubbish.
  8. Thats very much appreciated information. Would've taken ages to find that kinda stuff elsewhere. We'll keep looking, and grudgingly pay the money for practice rooms mean time. The 2 session a week thing is simply because we can't afford to do more. If we had our own space i imagine it would be much easier and ultimately pay-off in the long term.
  9.
I saw him at Bestival, and whilst his bass playing was on a par with no one, the music just too much! We left after 10 minutes because the treble and distortion was physically hurting our ears
niiiiicccceee!
  10. Love his stuff, humble chap too.

    Loopers
haha Price is no objection within reason (eg. anything up to £500), only because I'm getting £100 a month EMA and I don't desperately need a looper, I'm just getting into experimental music. I want to mix a looper with the Maestro Echoplex tape delay, good old vintage sh*t. If noone knows what that is you should check it out. Until I get a pedal which is completely devoted to looping, then the EHX Memory Man (w/ Hazarai) will do for the moment I reckon... Thanks for all the help so far
I wouldn't blow all that mullah on a looper... if i was you. I'm not though, so go for it!
  12. Hey folks, Thought i'd put this one to the group. We're looking into getting a private space to practice/rehearse and ideally store some bits of kit. Basically we're racking up about £40 a session at the practice rooms (we can only afford two a week at that rate) - and we're needing to do a lot more hours, which sometimes can't be catered for and even if they could its going to quite expensive. It wouldn't be so bad if there was maybe somewhere with good equipment, but there ain't. I think as well we're needing somewhere that won't restrict us and we can work on our own sound a bit more. I'm sure a lot of you will have your own spaces. So, I'm just wanting to know roughly how much you're paying/what the space is like, pros cons etc Cheers Jamie Edit: Apols in advance if i've gone and put this in the wrong place!
  13. We had a drug raid at one of our gigs (on the headlining band*). Stuff started to kick off with the police. We just kinda stood back and observed whilst choas ensued.
  14.
would U be interested to trade it for a Warwick?
I fear i'm going to start sounding like nothing will please me, but no thanks
  15.
I've heard that too, but I've come to the conclusion as long as you keep some spare tubes with ya and don't chuck your head around then things should be fine. Enough people tour with all valve equipment to back that up
Yeah. I'm going to explore all routes. I like several ideas atm. Either a valve amp - matamp or a 400+ most likely - or maybe a huge power amplifier and high end pre. I would love to just get out there and play stuff, but it really isn't that easy an option
  16.
I don't think those amps will fit on stage at Stereo...
My thoughts exactly. Red Sparowes played there, and it was tight - and they clearly don't have the same amp real estate.
  17. If it is as above i'll take it - the volume pedal that is.
  18.
or a certain gold bass on these very pages That's traditional innit? and I am only half an hour away from you as well
Lovely, but naw thanks.
Esh Various 4?
Not a fan mate.
PM´ed.
Replied - with a nope
PM'd
and the same.. Cheers for all the interest thus far though
  19.
Definitely keep it! Reminds me of Mike Mills of REM's live workhorse...
Are you trying to make me get rid of it!? I joke, REM ain' no bad
  20.
what he said!!! Dude that is a stunner - if your not 10000000% sure keep hold!!! fantastic bass.
55% now. This is quite a good GAS extinguishing thread, so it is.
  21.
Thats a lovely bass! I'd hang on to it
I'm 50% sure that will happen
  22. Back up. Cheers Jamie
  23. I think the Matamp cabs are a given, they seem to be really good value and sound awesome - for my likings - going by internet words. Would i be realistically be able to gig the above amps (Mesa 400+, GT200, Hiwatt 400) without a back-up? I've been getting told by some folk that really i should only put 100% faith in SS for lengthy sets and touring.
  24. '' IF THIS DONT SELL AT THIS PRICE I WILL JUST BE KEEPING IT THIS IS WORTH £1200 EASY I MUST BE OFF MY HEAD SELL FOR THIS PRICE CHEERS GEORGE '' I always knew warwickhunt and Luke were off their heads..
  25. I had an issue recently too. We had to borrow backline because all our amps were in for servicing or we didn't actually have one (me). The headliners had in their contract that they don't have to share equipment with other bands. However, due to us both being on the same label we came to an agreement that we use their gear and they kip at our guitarist's flat. They were really decent blokes too, i'm sure they'd have just let us use them, but whatever. Oh, and my interpretation of 'backline' as regards gigging is just drum 'breakables' and cabs. Backline really does mean everything at the back i suppose, but oh well.
