well-respected... glasgow.
Aye, right! Seriously though, i'd go down there and tell them you'll wait whilst they fix it.. and yes, name and shame so i can avoid them please.

Well, just as i thought i had pretty much decided what i wanted i thought i'd post on here, and get me some advice from the seasoned, experienced lot that you are! Truth be told, i'm not too clued up and i'm naive to the ways of such things. I kinda know that i'm wanting valve. Call it a psychological thing, or maybe its just the sound being much more pleasing to my ear... or both, but i'm wanting valve. My last rig was a Hughes and Kettner BassBase600 and a 300W H&K 410. The cab didn't release the potential of the amp, which was a shame, but i was young(er) and couldn't afford anything better. Anyway, thats gone now and all that i have t play through is my laptop and headphones! As i've put in many a thread i've been thinking about a Mesa 400+, Matamp GT200 or a Hiwatt 400. I've only ever played a 400+ and a Hiwatt 100... but nonetheless i think they're all quite tasty, i'm just finding it difficult to differentiate between them, or justify getting one over the other. I'll set the scene. I'm 19, and reasonably able - so rig weight ain' no thang. The money side of things will be sorted out in November thanks to slave labour in the local bakery. I reckon i will have near enough £2K to spend on the lot (shh!) The band i'm in right now is perfect for me, and i'm ready to make a big commitment to it. We're gigging extensively, but right now i'm sponging off others, using their rigs I have 2 guitars to compete with; we're talking post-rock instrumentation - think Mogwai, Explosions, 65dos etc - so they're bloody loud. I think she is getting an Orange rig sorted out at the mo' which will be an AD-50 or Rockerverb 50 and at least a 4x12. The other guitar will likely just be through a smaller Orange rig... still loud no doubt. We're talking about UK and maybe Europe next year too, and playing some big venues when we support other bands on the label. Anyway, what do people think? Its not really very easy for me to try out a GT200, or indeed a Hiwatt 400. My mate has the 400+ and i already love it. Oh, and i haven't even thought about cabs Cheers for any help folks, much appreciated.

Well, i'm pretty much alike the rest. The big difference for me is remembering to take medication for my back (nerves). If i don't do that i'll have a compulsary need to pee for the whole set and the run up to it, even during soundchecks and general lounging. I can't drink anything before hand, bar water and i can't really get myself in the zone unless the place has a nice atmosphere. Usually though, being Edinburgh, nowhere really does.
Surprised not to see the EHX MM with Hazarai on your list. When I used to use digital delays, it was pretty much the 'do everything' box.
I tried my old guitarist's and i got rather a lot of unwanted noise from it

Hey folks, Well, i've read the threads, including very recent ones but i'm still looking for some first hand advice, specific to what i'm after. Basically, its got to be warm/analog 'sounding' with amazing, detailed trails. It needs tap tempo, i can't play with delay without it I missed a Diamond Memory Lane on Ebay, as i thought that was pretty much perfect. Thus far i'm looking at pedals from different ends of the spectrum: Roland RE-20/DD-20 Carl Martin Echotone Eventide Timefactor (if i push my budget) T-Rex Replica Digital Delay TC ND-1 Diamond Memory Lane (if another surfaces second hand) What do you lot think? For the price of the more expensive ones i could probably buy the RE-20 AND DD-20 second hand Cheers for any help, Jamie

Lidl's instant granules would do the job fine

How do they work? Is it a new technology they use for the transformer or something? I didn't know air had very good amplifying properties.

Supported Swedish band Jeniferever (on the same label as us) not last night but the other day. First time i've commented in this thread, its been that long since my last gig. It was good, i enjoyed listened and speaking to them though, as much as playing. They have an enviable bass set-up. Two bass players! That meant two P-Basses. One ran an Ampeg SVT-350H and 4x10 the other a Fender Bassman 135 W/2x15. Anyway, gig went smoothly - i've been in the band about a week and learned up the 5 songs perfectly making no mistakes live... except my watch hitting the G-string unwanted. They're such a good crowd to play with, i'm chuffed and hope it lasts!

Beginner looking to buy first bass, appreciate views on a few models

I had an RBX270, when i started 8 years ago. It was a seriously nice bass and in some respect i regret selling it. I can't honestly see how i could've got off to a better start than on that Yammy. I'd give it a go, but also be tempted to try the Squier VM's. -
It seems they must've perfected some sort of Quantum means of getting the power in there... I bet its actually empty inside.

Saucer full of Coffee in them. Leave it for like a couple of days and all odour will be gone It works for odours in cars and fridges and stuff too. I saw it on how clean is your house... and it honestly works well.

It seemed the logical thing to do at the time

Honestly think it looks genuinely awesome. -
I thought it would've been better to think about it sooner rather than later - but yeah, a week is rather a bit on the sooner side The rehearsing will be done in a private space though, when i've got my new rig 9 hours won't be enough! Edit: Yeah... the 1-3 gigs thing, that was probably a bit conservative. They've been a band for the past 5 years and recording the past 2. So, it doesn't look like they'll be going tits up any time soon.

I've been making good use of Google Calendar, its sync'd with everyone else' in the band too.

Well, i thought i would put this out to y'all out there. I like advice, and you experienced lot on here are good at keeping folk right. I'm 19, and will happily admit that due to being 19 i'm not very 'up' on ways of such things (anything remotely serious) Basically, i joined a new band just over a week ago. Since joining i've put in over 26 hours of practice at studios, learning 5 songs for gigs. I had my first gig on Thursday night. It went really well, songs aren't a problem, they're not only enjoyable to play, but they're enjoyable to listen to casually and the people/attitude/direction of the band is so perfect i can't believe my luck if i'm honest. It was easier because a new drummer joined at the same time as myself. However, they've got a contract with a relatively big independant label. They're naturally serious and as such have big plans for the future. Currently i am studying a bachelors degree in English and will hopefully do my honours year as well (4 altogether), before continuing on to further education or plumbing for a career in something i'd hopefully enjoy (aye, right!) At least that was the plan. I'm not sure if it is at all plausable. I'm not sure if i will be able to juggle everything. I'm not sure i will be able to cope. I'm not sure that the band will ever be at such a level that i will be able to simply have it as my sole priority - besides commitments to family and girlfriend. Hell, i don't know how much even that will be effected. We're currently looking at 9 hours a week minimum practice time. 1-3 gig(s) a month seems to be the way things are looking. So, i guess i'm asking what i should be prepared to expect? What should i be prepared to sacrafice and change in my life as it is now? Should i just try hard to slow the pace of the band down until i'm a bit more certain about my future plans (seems quite selfish though)? Ugh, i dunno. Cheers for any help, Jamie

I guess it'll just need a good going at a rehearsel, as i said i do have to battle with a couple of volume happy Oranges.
An analog delay with tap tempo? That's impossible...tap tempo is a digital feature. You can get analog emulating pedals with tap tempo but not delays that are strictly analog and have tap tempo. Good luck in your search...

Not impossible, just expensive - Diamond Memory Lane and Malekko 919 are analog tap tempo delays!
Yeah, i was either after a nice analog with tap tempo (as above) plus significantly more of my money OR a digital pedal that emulates it nicely. Sorry if i confused y'all. Not really after a DD-7, sorry. The 919 isn't even out yet, and won't be 'til about December apparently. Anyway, i'll happily plumb for an RE-20 or DD-20 in the mean time. Cash offers welcome too.
they're making a gt400 for a chap atm, so i'm sure they'll make you one if you ask! The transformers on it are a thing of beauty!
Well then i think thats that sorted... Now, money. I guess i won't be seeing much change from a couple of grand. I think a phone call is in order, but you lot have put me off... it sounds like an aging process.

I kinda fancy 2 gt200's but in one enclosure...not sure if that would make it a gt400 haha. I do have a lot of guitard to fight with, but I'm sure even one solitary gt200 could cope with a couple of AD-30's...

Well... i just got the ball rolling by contacting them today. Spending my student loan in advance, tut tut. I suppose i'd better get busy in the bakers as well... or put it down to album costs and hope nobody notices
