Cool stuff, very nice bass and an overall good sound there. Catchy enough tunes too, even if it isn't my cuppa'

I think i'll leave it. He couldn't tell me if it was 2 or 3 EQ. It looked mighty fine and played nice, but i think right now i'd be reluctant to pay over £600. Cheers for the advice guys.

I spotted a Stingray yesterday. I've always fancied one, this was tobacco sunburst, with a really nice bird eye maple neck. I didn't see any piezo on the bridge, and the guy didn't know what pre-amp it was. I have the serial number, which i think puts it around 1999-2000? - E07731 Condition wise, it has two chips in the paint and a lot of wear on the fretboard, but nothing unsightly. I've used an old pre-89 one for recording, which i really loved and i played this one and it was even nicer! So, if this is the right price then i'll probably bite. He is asking £745, should i try get him down on that a bit? Cheers Jamie

I've started to play for a new band, first practice was tonight. Couldn't ask for a better bunch o' chaps too, even the guitarists are sound as a proverbial pound! I tried backing vocals for the first time 'n all - went well actually - would've been better had i not recently dislocated my jaw, but hey ho! Apparently the previous bass player had other commitments and stuff, he sounded like a good enough bloke though, and his playing wasn't too bad I went a long with a fretless SX P-bass, that i'm currently borrowing from a chap on here! I must've looked like a bit of a tool, having sold up a few months ago, but ermm... its the playing that count right? Anyway, check the stuff out, i'd love to hear what you think about it www.myspace.com/thebedlamsurvivorsclub Cheers Jamie

Thanks chaps Firstly... the guitar sounds thin because he was using a 1970's strat, through a Boss ME-50 - recipe for disaster there The bass was really simplistic because i made most of it up there... oops. There was a touch of chorus on the bass, and a very very slight tremolo, that coupled with it maybe being a couple of cents out of tune might not have helped. Synth sounds? We don't use one The drums weren't mixed brilliantly, but we did those two tracks in about 5 hours, and mixed in about 2 more on top of that. Cheers guys! Edit: It did bring a smile to my face to see God is an Astronaut actually commented the music, and not just with an automated message
Hi, I'm a bit confused as to what's going on with the sale of this bass on ebay... There are two Dearmond Starfire basses which look the same (one has the pickguard taken off). The write up is very similar but the user ID is different. One is based in Rickmansworth, one in Bucks. They end within an hour of each other... Also your listing is the same as the previous sellers.... The completed listing for the sale of this bass was on 25th June.... looks like you had it for 3 days? What's the score? Steve
I was also wondering about this. I'm a potential buyer, that is sorely tempted right now. If the bank decides to add fund to my account, from a maturing bond, in there next week... then i'll not be hanging about!

Damn... I really did own myself there www.myspace.com/roullrd

I've recently just recorded a couple of demos with my band. Bass used was a late 80's Stingray HH, bass line is nothing much though, just the necessary. I'd appreciate any comments about the recording, or the music in general. Always good to tell my band they're not as good as they think

Hey folks, Bit of advice needed. I've got an opportunity at a 1978 Fender Bassman 135 and 'matching' all original 215 cab. It has just been serviced, not in bad condition aesthetically either. I'll not have a chance to properly test this rig out until sometime next month when i have a bass... So, i can ask my mate to hold it for me, but i'll only do so if you convince me on here that it'd be a good idea! Music wise, i'm playing indy/folk-rock stuff... but with a lot of rock 'n roll growl (that makes no sense does it? ) So, whats the consensus on these? The bloke told me that the 412 cab was useless for bass, but the 215 supposedly much better. He also has an Orange OR80. I realise if i played guitar this would tick all the boxes, but for bass what do y'all think? Cheers Jamie

I've tried Jam sessions, quite a few of them. The standard of playing was very high indeed, but it came from the most unsuspecting people. I don't know if i'll ever do one again, at least not until i'm a bit older and get the due respect with that. Gig-wise, i do a lot of them and every time i put out a good performance. I'm a confident person, always have been, but as soon as i have to gig i get the most terrible exaggerated response to nerves/excitement which really does take it's toll on my playing I've yet to conquer that.
