How do i go about doing the wireing in that respect mate?
Wire the 'ground' of the first pickup - bridge pup is probably best for this one - to the vol pot ground/backshell and the jack ground. Take the bridge pup 'hot' wire and wire it to the neck pup 'cold' or 'ground', then take the neck 'hot' wire to the vol pot wiper. The 'hot' wire from the pot then goes to the 'hot' output on the jack. This arrangement will be hum-cancelling as well. HTH, Ian

If you're going for the 'one volume pot, no tone control' route I would wire the pups in series (and in phase) for more mids and 'ooomph' - parallel with both full-on will in all likelyhood sound crap. YMMV Best of luck with the build - I like the look of the bass, beats the 'standard' Fender shape HTH, Ian

1.5mm2 or 2.5mm2 - so difficult a choice!
Ok, I think I have the answer to my own question. Just tried to use 4mm cable with a Neutrik. Had to shave the outer insulation and the conductors have to be carefully dressed to just squeeze into the connectors. Took nearly 20 minutes of fiddling. A 2.5mm cable goes in nice and snug. Surely the 4mm is too big for a Neutrik, surely Neutriks are made to handle more than the output of a bass amp (even the unlikely event of using the full 900W output of my untypical amp its going to be into more than one cab and so will be split between more than one cable) and so surely a 2.5mm is going to be more than ample. The cable looks like it's going to power a motor for a train.
I had the same issue using Canford MCS-HD cable (4mm[sup]2[/sup]), even worse with the 4-core variant for bi-amped applications (check out my for-sale thread on cables ) I used pukka Neutrik connectors (not the cheap Chinese knock-offs) and I had no end of bother. You're right about the 2.5mm[sup]2[/sup] though, went in a treat, so I would say OK for very short runs or low power amps, but worth the extra effort to go to 4mm[sup]2[/sup] for longer runs or more powerful amps (say, >250w) And Canford, bless 'em, also stock MCS-XD which is 6mm[sup]2[/sup], so I'm buggered if I know how that would fit in the standard connectors Ian -
Hi, im based in cambridge and might be interested. Being a bit thick, are there any 1/4 speaker connectors on the back or are they just speakon? Cheers
Hi Wally Yep you can use 1/4" connections with the output sockets - they are combo Speakon and 1/4" connectors (it's the rather fuzzy connections on the right-hand side of the unit when viewed from the back) HTH, Ian PS bumpage
You forgot the Osaka and Finland Jams The glasgow one with bagpipes was pretty cool too!
Bugger My bad.......I'm not the Muse fan I used to be hehehehe Ian

I've been into Muse since the Showbiz/OOS days, and I can definitely recommend both of those. Absolution is I guess their break-through album that garnered them more mainstream attention and appeal. They had a bit of a blip with Black Holes (but only IMHO) and kind of redeemed themselves with Resistance. Tracks I would listen to (plus album it came from, may be easier to get off of Youtube/iTunes etc): Sunburn (Showbiz) - played in Drop D and some OD New Born (OOS) Plug-In Baby Space Dementia Citizen Erased/Microcuts Stockholm Syndrome (Absolution) Interlude/Hysteria - this is the rock riff of the Noughties Map of the Problematique (Black Holes) Knights of Cydonia Uprising (Resistance) Resistance MK Ultra - some damn great bass and guitar riffs in this track Exogenesis Symphony (all parts) This is my list of listen-to tracks - emcompasses all that I feel Muse means to me, so may not be your cup of tea, but should be a suitable starting point HTH, Ian
Good news and bad news today. On the good news first... the steelwork is done for all of the productions rooms: The bad news? Somewhere between a communication error and a complete clusterfvck something went badly wrong. When I went down today the floors were as you see them above but there was a large quantity of regufoam left. It soon became evident that the benches have not been implemented properly. In the circumstances, the metalwork all needs to be lifted up again. In the circumstances it looks unlikely at this point that we'll be pouring concrete on Monday as per the original plan... Keep watching for the next episode of... soap.
Damn! Still, you caught it before they'd poured the concrete - now that would have been a real clusterfvck Lovin' the thread - it's the build that never ends Ian

The Alan Parsons 'Soundcheck' CD has a clean/un-compressed/un-EQ'd recorded bass part (with some bleed from the studio!); alternatively use Reaper or Audacity to record something direct off of your bass, then use a line out / re-amping box for the signal back into your B3? I've got a USB interface for my laptop/PC which can handle simultaneous ins and outs for monitoring plus recording i.e playout through WinMedia / VLC / iTunes /iPod and record/play in time on bass into input with monitoring on 'phones or speakers. HTH, Ian
well, that's encouraging...i was wondering if it was something personal !
Me too! Still have several items up for sale, guess it's down to expectations really, maybe the price for some of the stuff I've posted up is unrealistic? Or are people trying to get bargains? Ian

I've done pretty well on here - bought stuff, sold stuff, given stuff away and generally met up with some seriously nice blokes in the course of sales. Ian
