1. I am not of a fan of bursts.
 2. Fat, balding, middle-aged blokes shouldn't wear leather trousers.
 3.
Mark bass stuff. It's the yellow.
I don't mind the yellow cones - it's their ugly logo I can't stand
 4.
Well, that 700 has an MB-I pickup. The SB-R60 featured the MB-II pickup. The Black 'n'Gold featured the second iteration of the MB-II pickup.
I bow to your superior knowledge of all things Aria.... I did my best though!
 5.
Better? EDIT: Bugger. Rushed it and didn't pay enough attention to aligning the text. Already subbed it. Oops.
I was just about to ask if that was yours too. Not bad for 45 minutes work! It's straightforward and to the point - so could be a winner.
 6.
EDIT: Subbed anyway...looked at the other entries and thought I might as well
I like a laugh: where can you view the entries...?
 7. I have the opposite problem: I can't get a bad sound out of my 4003S. I've tried playing it through Ampeg and Genz Benz rigs, and even a Mesa Boogie Rectifier guitar amp - but whatever I do it always sounds, well, great... And yes, I have tried switching between the toaster and horseshoe pickups, but to be quite frank however I set the tone knobs all I can ever get is a fabulous sound. Also the playability, action, and intonation are all really good too. I've tried different brands of strings, but this does absolutely nothing as far as getting a load of fret buzz or dead spots to appear. Plus, just to add insult to injury, all my bandmates think it looks really cool (not to mention the fact that one of my American pals swears that "Chicks dig Ricks") and insist that I use it at ALL rehearsals and gigs. Whatever am I to do...?
 8. And there's also this, an SB700, not exactly the same but pretty close: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aria-Pro-SB-700-BASS-Guitar-Vintage-/170898951129?pt=Guitar&hash=item27ca5f0bd9 But it's in Japan....
 9. Hello, I have an Aria BnG I - it is effectively the same bass as the Aria SB60 (apart from the paint and hardware being black and gold of course). Bought it new in 1983 for about £250. The reissues are priced rather high in my opinion. If you're lucky you might be able to pick up an SB60 for a lot less than the BnG, because they were very much the 'little brother' of the Aria family in the early 80s. SB60s look pretty much the same as the SB1000 which was Aria's flagship bass and the one all the famous people used to play (apart from Cliff Burton and Bruce Foxton). The main difference between the SB60 and the SB1000 is the fact that the 60 is a passive bass, whereas the 1000 was active. Controls on the SB60/BnG I are pretty simple: volume pot, tone pot, coil tap switch. Here's an independent review from 'The Complete Guitar Book' published in 1982
 10.
That's one of the most sick-making headstocks I've ever seen
Dontcha think it looks kinda cute? Kinda like one of those cute little Moomin guys?
 11.
so one for and one against,...review looked pretty good you sent matski, think the junior has 2x12"s instead of the 15 thats in the review you sent. but thanks all same sir.
TBH, I've never actually played through one myself, but there used to be shop across the street from me that stocked them. The guys in the shop typically demo'ed Lakland basses through a Thunderfunk amp into the Accugrooves - which sounded pretty good to me.
 12.
You can still love them; and you can tell the entire forum that you love them
*raises head above the parapet* I, for one, shall stand up and proclaim "I am a R*ckenb*cker lover and am not ashamed to admit it!" And before I get shot down in flames, may I just add that I also own Fenders and MusicMen amongst others, so am not just a blinkered Ric fanboy...
 13. It's an Accugroove. Good cabs. Here's some info from someone more well informed than I... http://bassamps.blogspot.com/2006/06/accugroove-el-whappo.html
 14. I have one of these. They are great. Buy it. 'nuff said!
 15. Saw an ex-demo Promethean p3115 combo on sale in a local shop today. Price was okay, but could be negotiated down to possible bargain levels. The shop assistant was happy to give me a half hour in a soundproofed room to give the thing a test drive. All good so far. However......... There was an strange noise coming from the area where the tweeter sits - the same sort of noise I've heard before from blown headphones - that sort of papery 'fizzzzz' sound. Blown tweeter....? If so, easy to replace? Just wondering....
 16. I think I bought my SB B&G I for £250ish brand new in 1983, so 4 grand does seem a bit ridiculous....
 17.
id love a 4004....or 4003s with no binding i wouldnt buy a ric unless black...
*Ahem* My 1986 JetGlo 4003S for your viewing pleasure.
 18. Ooh, not a lot of love for Rickenbackers in this topic... Ironically, I've been using my 4003S as my main bass for a few months now, and the other day at rehearsal swapped back to my '79 Precision - my first thought: "feels a bit uncomfortable and odd..." And yes, I do still have the pickup cover on the Rickenbacker - it's a magnetic horseshoe, so I can't remove it.
 19.
I have DR Marcus Miller fatbeam 125 to 45 on my SR5 - they're about 2 yrs old - they still sound bright.
Same here - although mine have been on for 4 years and still sound bright.
 20. You just need to man up! [sub]Oh, hold on a minute... [/sub] [sub] [/sub]
 21. 4 years: got my first bass when I was 12, and played my first gig when I was 16.
 22.
any band with monkeys in their name or logo earns extra points, for me...
Spanky D'Monkey
 23.
Was it a jedson ? I had a cream coloured one as my first bass and loved it.
You have something in common with Mick Karn
