1. Did you find the screws for the thumbrest yet? [sub]A bump cunningly disguised as a question.... [/sub]
2.
Me too, now I've seen that mod...
What mod?
3. I'm surprised to see that the Digitech Whammy is fairly popular - are people actually using them in a live situation or just pissing about with at rehearsals?
4. How do the necks compare with the 'modern' reissue equivalents? Surely they should be pretty much the same, shouldn't they?
5.
Funk started as music to shag to, look up the word "Funk" sometime.
funky 1 |ˈfə ng kē| adjective ( funkier , funkiest ) informal 1 (of music) having or using a strong dance rhythm, in particular that of funk : some excellent funky beats. • modern and stylish in an unconventional or striking way : she likes wearing funky clothes. 2 strongly musty : cooked greens make the kitchen smell really funky. ORIGIN late 18th cent.(in the sense [smelling strong or bad] ): from funk 2 . 6. I have one: a really early 'big Fender, small Squier logo' '57 Precision model. I bought it second-hand in 1984. Mines been tampered with though over the years - refinished, new bridge, new PUPs, new scratchplate - so I can hardly call it original spec. As for how much would I pay for one nowadays - it's tricky... There's a guy here in Warsaw who's been trying to sell a 1983 JV Jazz 64RI for the best part of £850. He's had it for sale for almost a year with no takers. How much did I pay for mine? £50.
7. Ok guys, thanks for all the advice. Funny how a lot of people slag off the late 70s Fender Ps, yet when push comes to shove the general opinion is 'keep it'!
8. But the Sadowsky is supposed to be a 'retro' bass, isn't it? Hence the ultra vintage (UV) name and the Vintage Tone Control function.
9. I've been offered a Sadowsky UV70 5 string as a trade for my '78 Fender Precision. However I know bugger all about Sadowskys, apart from what I have read on their website.... What is the general consensus of opinion as far as this particular model of Sadowsky goes? Obviously they are fairly different basses as the UV70 is a SuperJazz and the P bass is, well, just a P bass. Anyone on here got a UV and can furnish me with some words of wisdom? So would you go for it or not? Here are pics of the two basses in question:
Anyone else noticed a difference depending on whether the electricity in the venue is supplied by nPower or Eon?
No, but I do find that if my bass is correctly lined up with the Earth's magnetic field I get better top-end clarity.
12.
The guitarist has just graduated as a 'graphic designer' and takes everything far too seriously and basically thinks he knows everything, he doesn't take input any more, if anyone comes up with an idea he will say "I like it but lets go my way"
Prepare him for the reality of life as a graphic designer: tell him at 9pm that you need 4 songs written by 8am the next morning, let him do exactly what he wants to do, and then piece by piece change every element of everything he creates until it is nothing like his original creation but just how you want it to be...

14.
It's on iPlayer here. How does that compare to the new Jamiroquai record btw?
I think there's a veiled message as to why Stuart Zender left Jamiroquai too, obviously the names have been changed to avoid legal troubles though: However, Zak is very upset because his special breakfast banana has gone missing and he thinks someone has eaten it. All he found was a banana skin with no banana in it. He declares that he can't write anything for 'Synkronized' until he finds out who ate his banana. Todd likes nothing more than a good mystery so he suggests they look for some clues. However all the clues they find appear to point to Zak, so they decide to lay a trap to catch the culprit.

16. What happened to the Status neck? Do you still have it...???
17. This one:
18. Originals with the odd cover thrown in.
19.
and a new truss rod fitted? thats a wierd mod to do, why?
Gawd knows.... as I said it was in the hands of someone else for a long time. It's been defretted and refretted too...
20. DR Fatbeams. Because they last for ages. I put a set on my StingRay 5 a year and a half ago and still think they're a bit too zingy...
21.
I once bought a P bass because it looked like my pants.
Stained and roadworn?
22. I have an '82 'big Fender logo' JV Precision - I like it. I can't give you much info on how it compares to other P-basses cos I've only ever owned one other and that's a '78 model. However the JV is a bit lighter in weight and has a 'flatter' rear neck profile than the '78 (not baseball bat-like at all - more pre-EB Stingray). Oh, and it sounds more 'vintage' than the '78, obv. Mine's been modded quite a bit - replaced the hardware and PUP, and had it refinished in transparent black - so I can't claim to have an original-spec JV, but the mods were necessary as it was out of my hands for over 15 years and not so well looked after in it's absence. It still needs a proper refret job to get it back to it's original glory too... Here's a pic or two:
23. How long before Lakland 'go roasted'???
24. Hmmm. Strange... I guess there are some differences between yours and mine though - mine is 'post-Fender' with the 18v active circuit. Maybe I'm using the wrong brand of batteries? Usually I use Duracells, but my Kubicki has Energisers in - would that make much of a difference? PS: Sorry for hijacking this thread...
