1. Traded Stingrays today with James, sweet as a nut all the way from start to finish.
2.
I have seen one on ebay that might be close : http://www.ebay.co.u...uoAAOSw2GlXHfTZ Is that what his looked like? i think it looks really cool. In other news: The missing ferule has been replaced very kindly by Bassassin. A true hero of japanese basses! Will get it set up and strung then il take some better photos! Looking to be a keeper to me!
Yeh, thats the one!
3. Only ever seen one other sanox besides that one, it was a guitar though but still called sound creator, if memory serves the logo was green , a mate got it second hand when we were at high school getting on for 20 years ago now, but it was already pretty old then. Same funky shape,in sunburst but no pickguard and 2 humbuckers which looked like the old cream dimarzios, headstock face was black too, seemed pretty well made and sounded decent as far as I recall, no idea what happened to it though.
4. Stingray...
5. Personally I prefer the slab bodied pre-EB, the classic seems to have a "squarer" edge compared, for want of a better way to put it, still prefer that over the contour body however.
6. Tort, and a set of proper lollipop tuners, that would really look the ducks nuts!
7. Is the sims pickguards still available? Also do the holes match up for an american standard?
8. Bought a set of stingray tuners off Gaz, they arrived quickly, very well packed, and at a bargain price to boot. Top notch.
9. Smart looking precision!, still got my old stingray?
10. bump
11. I'm interested in the unichorus, is paypal ok?
12. up
13. bump
14. removed from sale
15. Any interest in a trade for a mint condition classic series stingray 5?
16. I've been doing some research into the original stingray pre amps, apparently the epoxied versions used tantalum capacitors, as opposed to electrolytic, im no electronics whizz, so dont really know what the difference is internally with them; but in my own basses both sound very different, considering the two circuits are said to be electrically the same. The '82 version sounds a lot brighter with more treble than the epoxy version in my '77 bass, which seems to have a fatter warmer sound in general, both are strung with the same guage sunbeams, so I discounted strings having anything to do with it. The '77 is also lower output, both with its original pickup, and a nordstrand mm4 replacement. I wonder if other people have found the same, or if it varies between different instruments?
17.
And last but not least: the best deal I ever made. I got this all original JV Precision for €75, and it included a horrible Fender amp, Blue Note strap, pretty decent cable and stand. I sold it to buy a 5 string Lakland. I sold the Lakland for a Gretsch hollowbody. Sold that for a Fender Road Worn Precision. So I shouldn't have sold the JV. Basically, I sold it to buy a Precision. The guy I sold it to still owns it, plays it and loves it. As he should.
Why is this familiar? I did the same thing with the '79 Precision i'm trying to find again, part ex'd it for an orange jazz, and shortly swapped that for '57 reissue precision..
18. A long shot, but I figured it may be worth posting this on here: I part ex'ed my 1979 Precision at PMT Brum in 2007, which I've regretted doing ever since, it was black, with black pickguard and maple neck/board serial S905729, i'd put an old Dimarzio (cream coloured covers) pickup in as the D string had gone weak on the original, though the old pickup went with it so may have been re-installed by now. Was also missing the chrome covers, and thumb rest. Does anyone on here have it? (long shot I know, but as they say, if you don't ask you don't get:))
19. My old bass, half tempted to re-acquire. hehe
20. Just acquired a Badass bridge from Michael, arrived quickly and packed well, all round top bloke, buy with confidence!
21. Had d'addario chromes on my stingray and found them way too stiff/tight,required a lot of truss rod adjustment to counter the bow, they were 45 guage. Have roto 77s, 40 guage on my precision and they seem to be about right, sound better than the chromes to me as well, although I've not had them on a stingray, I'd say they are good bet.
