    Bought a beautiful Fender P from Mike (pestie) today. Bass was exactly as described (in fact, even better than described). Mike couldn't have been more honest or helpful. Lovely fella, great transaction, deal with complete confidence. Many thanks again 😊

    Many thanks guys, that's just what I was after. The 'series' that I mentioned was prompted by one that's on fleabay at the moment (£600 in Notts). The tag on it says 'American series'. It has S1 switching. I wasn't sure if this is actually a different range or not.

    I think it would be more than that, bearing in mind that these are Trace watts (these amps are extremely loud). I did use this head briefly with a Mark Bass 151std cab which I'm sure was 8 ohm. It was certainly plenty loud enough to keep up for a few classic rock gigs with plenty of headroom left.

You must have tried some real dog 'rays. As a rule (and certainly in my experience) their build quality is far more consistent than a great number of manufacturers including Fendar and certainly Epiphone. As you say, some basses 'fit' players and others don't. That's ultimately what it comes down to.
