1.
Good move, that's a good head. So how much does that leave you for cab(s)? £700 or so? Do you need two cabs? What size venues do you play? Do you have a preference to speaker sizes? To be honest, a decent 212 will do pretty much anything you need for pubs, clubs - even larger places to be honest. If you go for an 8 Ohm unit, it will still be flipping loud - and if you feel the need for more, then another will fit the bill. If a 212 is physically too large, then perhaps a pair of 210s, with the drivers stacked vertically of course, will do the trick. A lot of people seem to go for a pair of 1x12's around here - modular, highly portable and loud and good tone if they are quality ones. My personal recommendation would be a Barefaced cab - there are a few secondhand ones on here in your budget, and they weigh very little but tonally and volume wise they really deliver in my opinion. I've been using a 12kg BF Compact with my Trace heads in pubs, clubs etc with no problems at all. Never needed any PA help. I hope someone else comes along to enlighten you on wider cab options, as I feel I'm beginning to sound like a Barefaced sales guy. lol. Cheers Geoff
Hi Geoff Thanks again for the info. Size wise I'm probably looking at 1 x 12" cabs I think. Venue wise, we aren't doing a great deal at the moment but I'm probably after enough to cover pubs and small clubs with umph to spare.
2. Update! I'm having the AH300-7 that's on the forum. Now then, about these cabs.........................
3.
Well that will get you a good Trace head and a quality lightweight cab. 300 for a head, 500 for a cab and you have change for cables and a wireless :-)
Yeah, it's just waiting for the right cab/s to come up. The sizes I'm looking for probably restrict me to 1 x 12 or 2 x 10 cabs, hence I'd probably want a pair
4. Up to a grand at a push (I could do without eating for a while anyway) 😉
5. Hi again Keep it coming, please. All this info is great and should help me in my quest to get the sound I want at the size/weight I want. Many thanks
6. Thanks for the info. It's the actual size of the cabs that's critical for me due to a change of car (they've got to fit in a large saloon boot). That's why I'm thinking that a separate Trace head would be ideal. Excuse my ignorance but what do I need to consider when looking at the cabs capacity, ohms etc ? For example, there's a 300w GP7 head available on here at the moment that looks rather nice ;-). Cheers
7. Hi all I'm currently changing my gear. A few years back i had a Trace rig and i still miss that grunt. Basically, I love the Trace sound but my back really didn't like the Trace weight. This posed a question. Have any of you guys compromised by using an old Trace head with 'new' light weight cabs (Mark Bass etc, etc) or is this a complete non-starter?????? I'd be interested in your thoughts. Cheers

13.
It did go to a good home, I still have it for now. It's a beast.
Good to hear it's still in safe hands. I've seen very few in that colour paired with maple.
14. Hi all This is my lovely rig, all purchased from the BC forums. I bought the CMD102P several months ago and it's absolutely fantastic. I have however been on the look out for a 1x15 for it to sit on. So I recently snapped up this rather lovely STD 151 HR cab. I love it !! 😎 Cheers
15. Hi all This is my current black beauty, a 2 band EQ recently purchased from a fellow bass chatter. It's immaculate without a scratch on it and sounds fantastic. The blue one was my first, a 3 band that was also absolutely gorgeous. At the time of selling. my band had wrapped up and I just didn't have time to sort a new project out due to work commitments. Again, this was sold to a bass chatter and I'm sure it went to a good home. I just love 'em! Cheers

Bought a MarkBass std 151 HR cab from Simon. Great item exactly as described, arrived well packaged and when Simon said it would. Great comms and a very straight forward deal. Would highly recommend with confidence. I just can't wait to hook this cab up with my combo to make some serious noise!! Cheers
17. Can't believe the rest of this rig hasn't been snapped up 😳
18. Sunday morning Bump! Any love for a 35" powerful beast??? PRICE DROP - Now £120
19.
Had this bass in my hands only a few days ago. Totally as described and Deedee is a pleasure to do business with. Good price as well Glwts Dan All the best Ben
Many thanks Ben. Glad to hear the Yam sounds well with your rig!
20. Hi all PRICE DROP - Now £120 I bought this from a fellow BCer earlier this year. It's a great bass with a massive array of sounds from it's 18v EQ, but to be honest there are a few to many knobs on it for me!! Now I've got myself a Stingray again, this just isn't going to be played. Manufactured in approximately 2001, 35" scale restrung approximately 8 weeks ago with Rotosound RB50's. The finish is great, quilted black but in certain lights it can shine all sorts of colours. Individual bridge saddles, locking jack socket, 5 piece neck with a lovely action. As mentioned above, loads of different tones available. The pick ups are Ibanez DFR-N4 and DFR-B4. Review found here: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/bass_guitars/ibanez/btb400qm/index.html There are a few knocks on the body (mainly on the back) and there are a few tiny dents/scratches above the pick ups where somebody seems to have gotten a little over zealous with a firm plectrum! All in all this is a lot of quality bass for the price. Collection only from Doncaster area, although I am in Nottingham often so could arrange to meet up if necessary (or anywhere between). Thanks for looking
