4. Hi all For sale or trade my Yamaha RBX 270 in natural. It's got to go as I need to trim down my collection after acquiring a black and beautiful MM Stingray. I already have another RBX270 in black so I'm keeping that as I have a bit of a thing for black basses (#closet goth - my Ibanez is also black)! Natural satin finish solid wood body with rosewood fretboard. Passive electrics with volume, pick up blend and tone controls. Recent new Rotosound RB45 strings fitted. The bass plays great with a lovely action and tone. There are a few dings and knocks on the body but these aren't really evident until you look up close (the joys of a natural finish). I've tried to capture them on the attached photographs. There's certainly nothing detrimental to the sound or playability of the bass. As you all probably know, these basses are great but for some reason are cheap as chips! The bass is also currently listed on eBay. Price £80 Trade wise, I'm after an official MM Stingray case to keep mine tip top. Collection only from Doncaster area, although I am in Nottingham often so could arrange to meet up if necessary. Obviously if anybody has a MM case to trade we can meet up etc. Please pm me with any questions. Cheers
5. Bought a beautiful Stingray from James today. Great comms, gorgeous bass exactly as described. Trade with confidence, top fella! Thanks again James

7.
No BUMP worries I can always post it
I know and I'm sure the bass is as described, but I always like to have a play before I buy. All the best. Cheers
8. Hi Do you have any pics showing the whole bass in all its glory? Cheers
9.
Nice looking bass Where abouts are you based?
Sorry, just looked on the full net version. A little too far away for me I'm afraid. Best of luck!
10. Nice looking bass Where abouts are you based?
11.
I recently got Improvising Jazz Bass by Richard Laird and i think that book might be what you're looking for. It seems to turn up regularly on ebay. Tons of scale drills and some of the more obscure scales are in there too. Advice on gear and getting your sound and so on.
Many thanks, I'll look out for it. I understand the 'music is music' view, but anything that puts it into a more defined context had surely got to be better????? Cheers all
12.
My RBX270 has one of the punchiest E strings on any bass I've ever played. I suspect a change of strings may sort your E string out. If not, I would be loathe to spend much money upgrading the bass, as I suspect something else is going on to make the E string sound odd. May need a new nut for example. Does the E string sound strange on both pickups individually ? I'll bet it does. Try those strings ! Anyway, as for pickup recommendations, I have replaced the bridge pickup on mine with a Dimarzio DP147, which is big improvement on balance between the pickups IMO. Excellent tone too. Also no hum from the bridge pickup. Everyones a winner ! Personally, I like the original RBX270 neck pickup a lot. I have preferred it to aFender original and a Dimarzio Model P I have tried in there.
You're bang on. I changed the E for an old 105 I had in the bottom of a gig bag and hey presto, the spacey, wavy sound has gone. So I'm just off to the shops to get myself a sparkly new set of strings with a 105 E. Every day's a school day! Many thanks 😎 EDIT: just to make sure I wasn't going nuts, I again tried one of the strings that I'd previously tried and the wavy sound returned. It must be the nut not liking strings that are too light. Anyway, new set is on now and all is well 😊
13. Hi I'll give it a go with another set of strings. The set currently on are pretty light and the set on previously were regs. Perhaps it is the nut. I'll keep you posted :-)
14. Hi Tried lowering the pick up, no difference I'm afraid. Back to plan A I think! 😕
15. Embarrassingly no............. I must admit I've not come across the problem before. I'll give it a whirl and let you know how I go on. Many thanks
16. Hi all I have a couple of Yamaha RBX270 basses that are used for back up/detuning etc. One of them is absolutely fine, plays and sounds well across all strings. The other however sounds particularly ropey on the E string. A wavey sound almost as if there's an effect on it. I've tried different strings but still the same problem. Therefore I'm thinking of taking the opportunity to upgrade the bass by replacing the pick ups (and possibly the pots). Any recommendations on a decent set of P/J pick ups that won't break the bank? Many thanks
17. Hi all Could anybody recommend a good book of bass scales? I'm a self taught player who has always done everything by ear, but I feel I could really benefit from brushing up on scales for fills and runs etc. Many thanks
18. Purchased a superb Zoom B3 from Martin. Item as described. Great comms. Would highly recommend with confidence. Many thanks
19. Purchased a rather wonderful MarkBass combo from Rasher80 yesterday. The amp is great and exactly as described, the transaction went smoothly and communication was spot on. Many thanks again
