  1. Scratch that. Here's a lovely '92 that I picked up recently. Resistance was futile, I've always wanted a teal 'ray and I've always loved the birdsye/flame necks from this era - both boxes now ticked. It's in wonderful condition and the neck truly is stunning 😍.
  2. I’m a big fan of both old Trace heads and the Elf and I also believe that the Elf is very usable with efficient cabs. However if you’re looking at the Elf purely on its ability to replicate the classic Trace sound, I personally don’t think it does or was ever likely to. It’s just a good, tiny amp in its own right. Given the choice I’d have an older Trace head every time, but if I was using public transport I’d go class d and if you’re going down that route there are many (though not-quite-as-tiny) heads to choose from.
  3. If you've already concluded that it would be impossible to transport then I think you've answered your own question......
  4. Tecamp Puma 500/900. I’ve tried lots of different class d heads and imho these are up there with the best of them. Simple eq with a great sound ‘out of the box’. If the day ever comes that I have to retire my old Trace gear, I’ll be straight out looking for one of these.
  5. The prices have definitely risen over the last couple of years. I’ve bought and sold many, many Stingrays on these hallowed pages and a few years ago £650-800 was the going rate. However there are still bargains to be had if you shop around and eBay still seems to present a few if you’re willing to travel for the right bass.
  6. I agree. Aria models will always get my vote and if you don’t like the necks on the standard SB models, look out for SB-R versions - more traditional neck dimensions and far prettier fret markers too! EDIT - Just to clarify I’m not talking about crazily priced SB-1000 models. The 600/700/900 models or R60, R80 equivalents are amazing quality and still to be had at sensible money.
  7. Very nice, congratulations @Lozz196 After having many 3-eq ‘rays I too recently picked up a lovely 2 band (a ‘92) from eBay, again at what I thought a bargain price. Must get around to doing a NBD.
  8. A proper legend. He was the byword for guitarists in my and many others formative years. 😢
  9. As @Merton says these came much later than the early nineties. I believe these models with the electroluminescent front panel were the last before the final redesigned Peavey models were introduced.
  10. Both the MM and P necks are listed as 42.5mm nut on the Status site and that's what my current Status P neck measures.
  11. I'll get your coat................. The body dates from May 7th 2010 according to the EB serial database. To the OP, GLWTS. They do really sing with these necks on.
  12. Happy to start a feedback thread for CBD. Chris bought a speaker from me. Great communication throughout and arrived to pay and collect exactly when he said he would. Many thanks again.
  13. I'd love a Stirling if I could get one with a Stingray neck. Love the sound of a Stirling but the necks are a little too skinny for me. Over on TB a chap has fitted a Status MM neck to a Sterling 5 string but as another member on there quite rightly reminded me, the necks on the fives are interchangeable (both 22 frets) whereas the four string necks aren't due to the 'Ray only having 21 frets and the Sterling 22. ☹️
  14. Depends what you need. If you're going for modern, lightweight, efficient cabs (such as Barefaced etc) you won't need a huge stack - unless you want one of course! The original Trace rig would have been a 4x10 and a 1x15 and can be bought very cheaply now as they're big and heavy by today's standards. If you can manage to transport them then they would sound great.
  15. They sound great with Barefaced cabs. I've used my TE heads with both their 12" cabs (more neutral sounding) and their 4x10" (more coloured). They both sound epic.
  16. Lovely bass. I was very tempted to buy it myself. If I hadn’t recently put my Status/Mike Dirnt lookalike together I would have had it. 🙄
  17. All of these Trace 4x10 combos and cabs were 8ohm and designed to be hooked up to another 8ohm cab if so desired (eg 1x15, 1x18, or another 4x10). It will be fine.
  18. Yep, same again like @Stub Mandrel said.
