Congratulations. I'm sure you'll love it.

Yep, this is the Mexican version with the ‘59 pickup and BadA$$ bridge

That’s correct

Well not quite new but you know what I mean. After ogling the Status Vintage GP model and also numerous 50's precisions I decided to concoct my own version. Perhaps not one for the purists this is a MIM Fender Mike Dirnt in Vintage White (otherwise known as pale custard yellow) which I purchased from @billge along with a Status P neck courtesy of @Cuzzie (also thanks to @HazBeen who gave me some valuable advice along the way). The obvious problem with fitting a different neck onto a 50's style P is the neck heel. The 50's basses have a square heel and everything else has the more common rounded heel. A rounded heel neck will however fit in the square heel socket, it just leaves visible gaps in the corners which the scratchplate doesn't cover. Step forward GIG.ink @TimAl who manufactured me a Mike Dirnt plate with the necessary rounded heel. I'm really pleased with it. The neck and body make a great combination and after hearing lots of goods things about the '59 pickup in these MD basses I'm not disappointed. I may decide to go for another off-white or cream plate in the future but I think the black looks pretty good. 😁

Precision scratchplate/pickup position switched
Deedee replied to NancyJohnson's topic in Accessories and Misc
I believe it is the very same fellow. No chance. I'm too picky and it would have cost me hundreds of pounds in ruined sheets! 😂 Anyway, I did get a plate from Gig.Ink / Scratch It in the end and I'm very pleased with the result. I'll post some pics in a NBD thread here: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/436801-nbd-mike-dirntstatus-content/ -

The fan on the Peavey MiniMax may drive you mad. It's rather loud.

Bought an effects unit from Stew. Expertly packaged and shipped promptly, despite the efforts of the Royal Mail to delay things. 🙄 Many thanks again.

Bought a Focusrite interface from Tom. Item exactly as described, shipped promptly and packaged as if it had just been purchased from a shop. Many thanks again.

Sold an effects unit to Roy. Prompt payment and great communication throughout. Trade with absolute confidence. Many thanks again.

@Dandelion Just to confuse you further, there’s a rather lovely Big Twin just come up in Amps for Sale 🙄

Glad to help. Now I think I’ve talked myself into buying yet another BF cab 😂

I've had both and I'm sure there's lots of science behind the improvements but to be honest in a band situation I was hard pushed to tell the difference. They just both sounded great to my ears. The Super 12s do hold their prices but used Super Twins can usually be had for not too much more if you're prepared to wait for one to come up. If you've got the spare cash for new go for the Super Twin, but you certainly won't be disappointed if you decide to go for the older model.
-
No worries. They're both great cabs but if stand alone volume is a key factor, I'd always go for the 2x12 (it's effectively two gen 2 compacts in one box).

Yes, by a long way. Here's the link to the Super 12 spec: https://barefacedbass.com/product-range/super-twelve.htm

I recently sold a bass to a guy in the US. I used UPS booked through interparcel. All went very smoothly. It’s the same process as normal but along with the address label there will also be a Commercial Invoice (or Customs Invoice) form to print out and fill in. You’ll need to attach 3 copies of this to the package along with the address label. Any Import duty to be paid at the other end is down to the purchaser.

There are a couple of Super 12 Cabs in the marketplace at the moment (forerunner of the Super Twin). Not much taller than a compact, 4ohms and will go as loud as you’ll probably ever need.

I do like the look of these. I played through one of the first generation RM's at a rehearsal room a couple of years back (through a Laney 2x10 iirc) and it sounded great. The only thing that I couldn't get on with was the shiny fascia. That coupled with a dimly lit rehearsal room meant I couldn't see a thing. Now they've changed the fascia finish I may well look at them again as an occasional alternative to my trusty old Trace heads. I actually preferred the RM over the ABM 600 I briefly owned.

Sold some tuners to Jake. All went smoother than a greased up smooth thing. Trade with confidence. 👍 Many thanks again.

Status jazz and P bass neck profiles question
Deedee replied to fretmeister's topic in Accessories and Misc
Can't comment on the Jazz specifically but I do have a Status Precision neck and a new Status 4 string. The precision neck is certainly a lot more 'C' in shape than the standard Status neck. There is a discernible 'flat' area as you come down to the dusty end on the Precision, but it's nowhere near as 'D' in feel as the standard Status.
