  1. I have two main 'go-to' basses for home noodling, one kept upstairs and one downstairs. My '81 Aria SB-R80 and '83 SB-R60. Both have plenty of bruises and scars but they feel wonderful and just fit me perfectly.
  2. Either of these usually do the trick. Apologies for the scumbag introducing Jilted John....
  3. Mine too but quiet as a mouse running into the amp off a Truetone 1-Spot
  4. Now this could be tricky. Undeniably beautiful craftmanship doesn't always produce a thing of beauty.
  5. I watched the documentary about him last year. Fascinating career (which I admit to being completely oblivious of) and extremely talented. He came across as a thoroughly grounded and decent man. RIP
  6. As the repercussions of the virus hit our fellow musicians, I fear it’s very quickly going to become a buyers’ market for the saddest of reasons. 😟
  7. Here's my recently acquired Elite P sporting its new black scratchplate. Looks far better than the stock pearl IMHO.
  8. I will ship abroad although it may cost upto £170 - £200 insured (it's a large parcel)! Members would also need to have positive feedback/be known to the forum.
  9. Bought an amp from Dave. Item exactly as described, packed perfectly, shipped promptly and superb communication throughout. Trade with confidence. Many thanks EDIT - Just realised that I had forgotten to leave feedback for another amp I bought from Dave a year or so ago. That transaction went equally well!
  10. 🚚 This is now all boxed up and ready to ship to a new owner type BUMP!
  11. I recently got an Elite P in a trade and couldn't be happier. The nut on this one is 42mm and I love the neck shaping - C shaped with a 9" radius at the top through to D shaped and a 14" radius at the bottom. I'm favouring flatter radius boards nowadays so this one suits me perfectly. It plays great, has endless tone options and unlike the Ultra has the MM style truss rod wheel for easy adjustment.
  12. 6 at the moment. 1 is up for sale but I do have another on order and due in the next couple of months. 😁
  13. Ah my old bass! This thing is absolutely gorgeous and responsible for me falling in love with Status basses (and finally ordering a new CW model)! 😍 Here are a few pics from when I had it.
  14. I bought this from @Happy Jack a few weeks back but it’s not really for me unfortunately. I received another bass in a rather unplanned trade around the same time and I seem to have fallen heavily for that one instead! YOM - 2012 Mahogany Body Graphite Reinforced Maple Neck Rosewood Fingerboard Contoured Neck Heel 34" Scale length 21 Frets 39.5/40mm Nut Width Bone Nut Chrome Hardware Hipshot Ultralite Tuners Passive Electronics – Vol/Vol/Tone Custom Mike Lull T-Bass Pickups Hipshot A Style Bridge Weight – approx. 8lbs 8oz This seems a pretty rare bird as I’ve not seen another for sale with the rear mounted electrics. When I was buying this I exchanged emails with Paul Schuster at Mike Lull Guitars who confirmed that it was made in 2012 (and therefore had been Plek’d for those who are interested). One key thing to note and one of the reasons why I’ve not bonded with it too well is this bass was obviously specified with a narrower than standard neck. The nut width is actually 39.5/40mm. It really is a beautifully constructed bass with a dark, tight grained rosewood board. It’s in superb condition with just a couple of the tiniest indentations in the finish that I can see. Freshly restrung with a set of Fender 7250 nickel round wounds (100/80/60/40). Comes complete with a rather fetching original G&G hard case which again is in great condition save for a couple of small nicks. I would much prefer this bass to be collected with the price reduced accordingly to £1470. However the listed price of £1500 is what I paid and includes standard shipping to mainland GB. If you require insured shipping it’ll be extra or you can choose to arrange your own courier. 15. About 20 years ago I lived next door to a noisy PIA. I must admit if I’d had one of these and my Four10 back then I’d have had lots of fun. 😂
  16. And just to update a picture I posted a few months back which had a couple of generations missing, here's the collection covering the Trace era from the mid 80's to mid 90's, along with the baby Elf thrown in/on for good measure!
  17. I acquired this lovely MkV a few months back. It's been with the tech for what seems like an age but I finally got it back last week. Other than a few scratches in the tolex on top of the case it really is in superb condition.
  18. If you're in two minds about it the reversible option is the way to go i.e. rehouse the head but leave the carcass as is so you can slot it back in when you want to. Congrats on still being able to lift it though. I'd be able to lift it up but leaning to put it into the car and my back would be knackered. 😩
  19. Yep, mine sounds pretty good through a BF Four10 too.
  20. We’ll clearly have to agree to disagree on what the residual value would be. The value is practical not monetary. To say you’d be left with nothing is a little extreme. What you would be left with is a more portable, quality (albeit old) amp. If that means that it is used more then to my mind it has been made better. There are people who think that anyone spending more than one minute faffing with these old amps need their bumps feeling. However, fans of the marque and particularly of this era would recognise the value of rehousing the amp. Popping out and buying the lighter weight head only version is not that easy as they’re not exactly easy to come by. The OP could indeed leave it as is, untouched as a piece of history but very few people have the luxury of space required to have old 4x10 combos sitting dormant. To my mind if splitting means that it or at least part of it is going to be used more, it’s a no brainer.
  21. Surely it would be more pointless to have it sat unused? I’m pretty sure that the OP is fully aware that the resulting separate items would still weigh the same as they do now, but the OP clearly likes what he has otherwise he wouldn’t own it. Yes the head will still be heavy but comparing 12-14kg for the removed head to the 45kg plus that the combo currently weighs is hardly pointless (and no this isn’t an Old School vs Class D argument). The speakers being old is a valid point, that’s why most who do this keep the head and dispose of the old speakers and combo casing. With regard to comparing chopping this down to butchering an old Fender, I’m pretty sure if these old combos were going to become hugely valuable or collectable the market would have started to show signs of that long before now.
  22. That EQ isn't too far removed from what I have a couple of mine set to, just using the graphic alone. They sound epic.
