  1. Definitely worthwhile splitting and rehousing the head in a 2U rack case. I've just got my faulty MkV 150 head back after a lengthy stay with the amp tech. It was once part of a 4x10 but now the gremlins have been fixed it sounds fantastic through the various cabs I have. Too many old Trace amps are sat wasted, unused and unloved due to them being part of huge 4x10 combos. Once rehoused it should only weigh the same as most other 2U Trace heads (around 12-14kg). As for the rest of the combo, if you love the sound of it and don't mind the (reduced) weight, chop away!
  2. Welcome Chrissy, although I think I may have been in a band with you once before.
  3. That really does sound great.
  4. Aha! What is required exactly? I saw something about a grounding issue?
  5. I think I read something about this years ago. Just searching through some old threads and @VTypeV4 refers to the Clive Button module in the thread linked below. I wonder if he can shed any light? I think it may actually be a replacement board. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/237838-trace-elliot-gp7-sm300-amp-head-infoopinions-please/
  6. I have to agree Mart. Having the Sterling 4HH pushed me to bite the bullet and finally get the 4HH version of the ‘Ray Special - the model that I wanted in the first place but couldn’t get hold of in the colour I wanted.
  7. Not sure why they aren't more popular, they're great basses. The two I had (including the black HH currently in the FS section) were superb. If it wasn't for me getting pains in my fretting hand when playing skinny necks I'd still have them. Now if they did a Sterling with a 'Ray neck......
  8. I must admit many straps I've had in the past have just been left at full length leaving the adjustment element redundant.
  9. Fabulous stuff! Sorry I'm a little late picking this up 🙄
  10. Congrats. Three stunning basses. 👍
  11. I know what would happen if I was to try to heat up, cool down and remove some screws..................
  12. I’m pretty sure the saddle screws issue is a very common problem. I had to change the saddles on one I briefly owned.
  13. Great insight and congratulations on the shows.
  14. I would do but I already have 5 Trace heads with one of these beauties being the youngest. 😉
  15. Bargain! GLWTS although I don't think you'll need it. 😁
  16. Great basses. GLWTS
  17. Great job, well done 👍
  18. I must admit I was never a huge fan of DL back in the day but they’ve sounded great on the live footage I’ve seen of them over recent years.
  19. Bricks would be plopped! 😮. Then again if you’ve already backed Trevor Horn I don’t suppose much else will faze you. Great thread and very best wishes to you and all involved. 👍
  20. Sold a pickup to Paul. Super fast payment and great communication throughout. Trade with confidence. 👍 Many thanks again.
  21. Just bought a bass from Jack. Communication was first class, the packaging superb, delivery prompt and the bass beautiful. There was a slight mix up on the spec for which Jack was horrified and at great pains to resolve (including offering to take it straight back) but I'm going to take some time to get to know it a little better. 😁 stinky poo can happen but it's how it's dealt with that matters. A first class Basschatter, trade with confidence. 👍
  22. .... and sold to the man with the crazy moustache! Thanks all
  23. Now surplus to requirements my Fender Custom Shop '62 precision pickup is up for sale. Price includes postage to mainland GB.
