  1. Just thinking out loud on this one. I’m a big fan of Trace SMX models and one of their most useful features, the EQ Balance control. I know the SMX compressor pedal was made available with this feature, but I’m curious to know if any other pedals are available that have this simple EQ balance ‘tilt’ facility?
  2. I know nothing about flats and I too would like to give them a whirl on my P bass. Interesting that there is some love for Fender flats. EDIT - Scrap that. Looking at what's available it appears that the lowest gauge is 45 anyway
  3. Just completed another 'ickle transaction with Paul. An absolute pleasure as always. All the best
  4. Just to add to the above, a thick piece of foam will do the job too without adding any weight.
  5. A beautiful piece of kit - and recently serviced! 😍 GLWTS
  6. No problem. 👍 You'll find there’s a wealth of knowledge on here and lots of members who are only too happy to help (and whose help and advice I have gratefully received on many, many occasions).
  7. I'll just leave this here...... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Trace-Elliot-2x10-1x15-Speaker-Cover/264250800494?hash=item3d8693396e%3Ag%3AQp8AAOSwsupclTLV&LH_ItemCondition=2000|2500|3000|4000|5000|6000|7000
  8. Didn’t realise I had this too:
  9. Blimey. I'd sell mine if I thought I could get that much for it. 😂
  10. Hi Chris Congratulations on your incoming purchase. They're great amps. I'll try to answer some of your points/concerns and I'm sure others a little more knowledgeable than me will be along to further elaborate. Not sure regarding the fan. Mine had one (pictured) and you would have to assume that there was a reason that TE added one to later models, but others may have more knowledge as to why or at least the extent of any issues. If yours has survived this long I personally wouldn't worry about it. With regard to cabs, I too had some confusion/concerns when using valve heads. However as long as you are using at least the same or higher ohm cab/s there will be no problem although you may not be as loud i.e. using 1no. 8ohm cab with your amp switched to 4ohms won't be an issue Not sure why there's only the option of 2 or 4 but as above, going lower is more useful than going higher as most cabs are either 8 or 4 ohm i.e. you can use your head with 2no 8ohm cabs = 4ohm, or 2no 4ohm cabs = 2ohm I think my Hexa did have some feet but I had it in a rack case anyway. I imagine there will be pre-drilled holes for them I've never had a valve amp die on me so I'm not too sure of the symptoms (I do seem to remember strange whistling when a mates guitar amp went down)? There are however many suitable replacement valves available, mine had Ruby KT88 valves fitted (pictured) If you have a look in the 'Repairs & Technical' section there's a list of recommended amp techs A search online should be able to bring you these up. Any Series 6 GP12 user manual will suffice as they're the same operationally I've attached a page from an original TE brochure (I believe from '89-'90) showing the Valve range Enjoy!
  11. Agreed. I’m a big fan myself (my main amp is a 250SMX) but I do like to take a big old UV model out now and again. 😎
  12. ....... and a tad heavier in this bad boy.
  13. Just under 23kg by my scales, 2kg heavier than my MkIV AH250 that has the standard wooden case.
  14. I bought one of these to overcome power noise and power line interference at home and found an immediate improvement. May be worth having in your gig bag for those venues with such problems. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tacima-6-Way-Mains-Conditioner-black/dp/B00UB0G4DQ/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
  15. 😂 That’s what I keep saying. There’s actually a tidy 250 SMX on Gumtree at the moment. Not sure whether the buyer is willing to ship or not (in Scotland).
  16. Just to add to the above, it used to play very well as I recall. It got passed around a lot among us as it was (for a time) the only bass any of us had! They were quite distinctive at the time being short scale with the 2 aside headstock. A bit of a departure from the Encore P bass copies that most people bought.
  17. That looks very much like one an old mate of mine had. He bought it new from a catalogue in the late 80's.
  18. That's a clever bit of kit. Thanks.
  19. Sold a bass to Mike. Prompt payment and great communication throughout. Trade with absolute confidence 👍
  20. I imagine it’s those 5”s in there. I know the Four10 does sacrifice a bit of top end ‘zing’ for its other benefits.
  21. I remember that pic/thread. Very nice. Am I right in thinking you preferred the sound of the original combo?
  22. This type (Series 6 onwards) are still available from British Audio but it's the smaller, pointed ones used up to and including the MkV that are like hens teeth. EDIT - Just to clarify, they don't look like hens teeth......
