Large festivals are not for me either. My idea of hell. Give me a small local festival or ideally an indoor job any day! I was however invited to Download a few years back with a backstage pass and access to Iron Maiden’s hospitality. Met my idol Mr Harris along with Nicko and Dave Murray. Saw Motörhead when a very poorly looking Phil Taylor came on stage and will never forget the image of Lemmy being whisked away from the back of the stage on a golf buggy. However, when we did venture into the ‘real’ festival environment it reminded me why I hated them. The sound was awful (very windy day), the aerial bombardment of plastic glasses full of ‘warm’ amber fluids were in full flight and underfoot was like a bog. Not for me.

I agree. Lovely basses but price wise I can't see it being worth any more than what it's listed for. -
That's some crazy scratchplate!

Yep, definitely stick with the white. Congrats on the bass by the way. They do tend to deliver well above expectations. Without wishing to cause John to blush, the fitted Kiogon loom is a great upgrade on these (I have the same on mine). Enjoy!

Only at bedroom levels unfortunately 😟. Sounded great so at volume I’m pretty certain it would be epic.

Sorry to hear of your troubles Mart. Hope you get sorted quickly, effectively and painlessly 👍

Exactly that. I have one of the first run Squier Classic Vibe 60's P basses that would have originally had a black plate and tug bar but when I purchased it the original plate had been changed to a tort one without the holes. I soon bought another black plate with the holes in the correct place and fitted a tug bar as nature intended. Only difference now is that this plate also has the holes for a pickup cover too.

That really is quite horrific 😱

That Senator looks in beautiful condition. With regards to dating Hofners generally, using the number alone is not an exact science. Often you need to look at several things along with the number to establish the date e.g. pickup type, headstock inlay, trussrod or not, type of tailpiece etc. 'The Hofner Guitar - A History' is a great book by Gordon Giltrap & Neville Marten and a must for lovers of the brand. It covers trying to date the instruments along with info on each model and interviews with famous users. I have a copy from when it was first published in 1993 but as per the link below it has since been updated and republished. https://www.giltrap.co.uk/cds/f/Related_Books_/1013

The President wasn’t the top-line of their big bodied arched tops, that was the Committee or ultimately the far rarer Golden Hofner. I still have a couple of Hofner six strings and I also owned a President acoustic very similar to this one for many years (blond, same trapeze tailpiece etc). The presence of a trussrod tells you it’s 1960 onwards. The serial number suggests it’s 1963. Beautiful guitars once you get the intonation nailed. Mine was in similar condition and sold a couple of years back for around £450 iirc, although mine didn’t have the original Selmer case so yours should go for a little more. Link to a Hofner dating site here (not in a First Dates stylie you understand) 😁 http://www.vintagehofner.co.uk/ramsay/date.htm

With the greatest respect, Robert Plant’s delivery was different but I think lacklustre is a little strong. I think there were other vocal interpretations on the day far more worthy of negative comment. Nobody could compare to Freddie but I don’t feel Mr Plant let himself down tbh.

Speak to Nick at NGS Custom (search NGScustom on Facebook to see his work). Based in the UK, he'd be able to do anything like this for you and he also makes his own brand of pedals.

I had a similar problem (link to thread below). One of my Trace heads was picking up weird pulsing interference. My other heads were fine, but this particular head seemed really susceptible. As far as basses go, my old Status was the worst. Quiet as a mouse with my other amps but with this particular one it was noisy as hell - fine anywhere else but in the house. I bought a conditioner which helped but I’ve since ditched the powerline adaptors completely. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/334731-power-conditioner-to-overcome-dirty-powerpower-line-ethernet-interference/

Great interview and what a thoroughly lovely chap. Thanks for the heads up.

It certainly is. I remember getting questioning comments from people when they saw how high the input gain was set, but that's how it should be on a Trace.

Sold some pickups to Gary. Prompt payment and great communication throughout. Trade with confidence. Many thanks again.

Check with Leszek first before going down the transferwise route. I paid using that but was then hit with an additional charge as Leszek was short after the currency exchange. It then cost me £50 to send him the shortfall of £38 😕
