  1. Nice one, glad you had a good return!
  2. Both great venues either way. To the OP, I hope the gig went well 👍
  3. Thanks for clarifying. In mitigation it was a good while ago back in the day when we used to drink on gig nights, hence the guitarist taking the tumble down the fire escape.
  4. That's not a bad venue for a return to gigging. A lovely afternoon by the Trent, have a good one 👍 Played there years ago and if I recall there's a board at the side of the stage listing some of the bands that have trodden those very boards. Our guitarist went derrière over tit with his amp down those steps actually. 😂 EDIT - Or am I thinking of the Union Boat Club next door. Hmmm.
  5. +1 for the Custom Shop '62 pickup. Just the right amount of growl to my ears.
  6. I think unfortunately that’s why people overlook Trace because they are so associated with the ‘scooped’ pre-shape sound. The pre-shapes are only an option, a feature to use, but with the EQ you can get pretty much whatever sound you want. My MkIV and SMX both sound wonderful just flat as basic amps with both the graphic and the pre-shape disengaged.
  7. Fantastic amps, I love them to bits. Just beware of being lost in the mix with Pre-shape 1 engaged. It sounds great on it's own but you can disappear in a gig setting. Pre-shape 2 adjusted to suit the room with the EQ balance will cut through most situations or you can mix Pre-shape 1 or 2 with the graphic and adjust to taste.
  8. Just purchased yet another solderless loom from John but unusually for me not for a precision this time. Instead it was to breath new life into an old Aria Pro II (poorly tone pot). I was advised on what could be done and the loom was made and shipped very quickly. He helped me out hugely after I (again) showed my unfailing ability to get even the most simple electrical tasks wrong. The loom has totally transformed the bass giving it useable tones across the whole range of the control knob. John's work is absolutely top drawer and highly recommended. Many thanks again.
  9. I agree. How many of us heard them doing it live first time around? I doubt it differs too greatly.
  10. That’s it then, I’ll ask for one by name. Obviously I’m assuming they’re available in Charcoal Sparkle. Hmmm, I’m already readying myself to be disappointed 🤔
  11. Just out of interest, does it suffer from that modern day phenomenon of not being able to accept full-sized bread (the toaster that is)?
  12. Lovely bass. Toaster doesn’t look too bad either 😉
  13. It is tempting, even for parts alone 🤔
  14. A great project for someone wanting to create their own Black & Gold perhaps? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/192912575810?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&fromMakeTrack=true
  15. Apologies for omitting that in the original post. They’re approximately 18mm at the sides rising to 23mm in the centre.
  16. On the whole I’d say I play how I play regardless of the bass. However, I do recall many years ago reading an interview with Macca when he spoke of how playing a light, hollow bodied bass (Hofner) lent itself to melodic lines etc. I had a 60’s Hofner bass at the time and I must admit I did concur with his comments. It just felt a little bit different and teased you into playing differently.
  17. Sold a pretty much brand new head to Dan. Great communication throughout and super-fast payment. Sorry to see it go without having the opportunity to use it in anger myself but circumstances didn't allow unfortunately. Glad it's gone to a good home. Many thanks again.
  18. Sold a preamp to Stuart. Great communication throughout and super fast payment. Trade with confidence 👍 Many thanks again
  19. I think I may change the colour of one of my tuners '"just to be different" 😂
  20. Similar to @TheGreek I've had my fair share of Trace Elliot bargains the best of which were both on Gumtree. An AH200 complete with matching 2x10 and 1x15 cabs for £90. An AH250 GP12SMX for £50 spares or repair which kept blowing fuses. Someone had unknowingly switched the voltage over from 230 to 115!
  21. 😲 Wow, some beauties there.
