  1. Currently 7 6 8 basses: 1983 Aria Pro II SB-R60 1981 Aria Pro II SB-R80 1983 Aria Pro II SB-R150 1991 Status Series 2 headed 2000's Vintage 'Ray clone (been out on loan so long that I may struggle to get it back) 2007 EBMM Sterling 4HH 2009 Fender Classic Vibe 60's Precision (currently for sale) 1982 Ibanez Musician MC924PW (recent but soon to be for sale, not quite my thing) Fender Steve Harris Blue Sparkle Precision 2018 EBMM Stingray Special 4H Of course, ask me again in six months and all this may have changed! 🙄 It was never going to take six months 😂
  2. I used it a lot on my SMX when playing a Stingray if I felt that the sound was being lost. As you said, I'd just brighten it up as necessary using the EQ balance. Got me out of a few holes actually when struggling to get the right sound in dodgy rooms.
  3. I concur with the above that preshape 1 sounds great on its own but disappears in a live mix setting, but it can be used as a base sound with which to blend with the graphic. Preshape 2 however punches you in the chest (but I’m not sure if the AH500 has that)?
  4. I recently put a set of D'Addario XL Nickel Wound 95-35 on my Status and they're fantastic. Certainly the lightest strings I've ever used.
  5. Very happy to start a feedback thread for @gollyhander Just bought an absolutely stunning old bass from Ian. Fantastic communication throughout, the bass is even better than described and he very kindly arranged to drop it off to me. Trade with absolute confidence. Many thanks again. 👍
  6. I've often pondered this myself. Throughout the 90's I too was led to believe by many people that 70's and early 80's Fender guitars and basses weren't worth the proverbial as throughout that time the company was constantly battling to cut costs due to ever mounting financial pressures (3 bolt neck plates were always cited as one example of this). Perhaps it was a conspiracy so they could buy them all up for themselves 😏
  7. This is a lovely bass and SKB558 is a great guy to deal with. Have a bump on me! GLWTS
  8. I'd gig it just with the 1153 cab and sell the 4x10 on. Those 1153 cabs have power beyond their suggested handling rating I'm sure (I rarely paired my 2x10 with it).
  9. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F264260376136 Looks like a great bargain for anybody in that neck of the woods.
  10. I think many of us are just swayed by wanton lust for basses, I know I certainly am. 🙄 Sometimes your tastes change, sometimes your body changes and what you hope will be the last bass you'll ever buy turns out to be just another bass. As other members have commented it's all good clean fun and if a buyer (of a new bass) goes into the purchase with their eyes wide open knowing that they're going to take a hit if it doesn't work out, fair play to them. If buying used, you can just move it on for the same price you paid for it. Happy days!
  11. It is a shame. I have one of the original 60's CV Precisions and the rosewood is lovely and dark
  12. Yes, my old black 2 band Stingray was poplar. Weighed a fair bit (which I prefer) and it certainly didn't lack any low end.
  13. Thanks for that. I think all the SB’s have a wide(ish) neck at the top but it’s what they do after that I’m more interested in. I don’t get on with the original ‘standard’ SB range (i.e. neck starts wide and pretty much stays the same all the way down the neck with a 16.5mm string spacing). I do however love the old SB-R series basses which have a 43mm nut but then taper out to a more standard string spacing at the bridge.
  14. Several trade offers received but still available folks!
  15. Does anyone know if any of the various later SB1000 reissues (JT etc) have a wider ‘standard’ string spacing a la R60/80/150 or are they all narrow like the original SB1000?
  16. Real Electronics in Sheffield do a lot of class D stuff so I'm pretty sure they could help.
  17. Is it a Roadstar 824BK but with the front pickup changed?
  18. Those basses look gorgeous 😍. Wow
  19. They do look interesting. I must say I don't think I've ever even seen one in the flesh.
  20. I agree. Try them out first. I’ve had several in various guises over the years. A 2010 that was sublime that I shouldn’t have got rid of, a couple of the 2012 onward CS pickup ones that were great, another that was not so good, plus a limelight that was probably the best of the bunch but just not right for me at that particular time.
