    Hi Meatbag. Lovely bass.

If you go back into your first post and select ‘Edit’ you’ll be able to alter the year in your title.

  2. I’ve often thought of getting a YOB precision, in my case 1973 but I would be scared to death to buy anything other than a bass that was either known to this forum, or from someone such as Andy Baxter. 😬

Oh for god's sake. Why couldn't you have told us it was crap? Why? Now I can hear my credit card whimpering from the other room. :(

Rack ears do look a bit, errm, yes... I think I'd be getting busy with the T-Cut to get rid of the logo.

That's very nice - does almost look new.

I'm still getting 100% reliable use out of the SMX250 I got from you @Deedee and it works a treat with the pair of 1x12's I bought from you @Sparky Mark... small world init!

It certainly is a small world. Glad to hear your SMX is still well. I will be getting mine repaired again because ultimately I’ve still not found an amp that I like more.

  5. Mine is the same model (non-fan) but has alas developed a fault on startup where there is no input signal for what could be 10 minutes, then it just comes in and works fine. 🤷🏼‍♂️  To be fair it is a bit of a triggers broom now and it certainly doesn’t owe me anything.

Just snagged an excellent condition 1993 vintage no fan AH250SMX. Replaced the original insanely microphonic TE branded ECC83 with a new JJ and all is working perfectly.

    Oooh very tidy. Congratulations 👏👏👏

  7. So here I am, just about to post that I’ve bought another B3 (it’s like putting on an old pair of slippers etc, etc) and there’s a completely new offering from Zoom that looks the business.

That’ll teach me for not trawling these pages as often as I once did. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Surely the saddle groves should of been slightly deepened and polished. Seems like a bad design.

But yeah fair enough haha 😄

That’s my point. Shims are simply another tool in the vast armoury of methods to overcome setup/manufacturing issues,

  9. I had a Wal mkI custom a few years back that required a neck shim in order to increase the string break angle, as strings used to regularly/easily jump out of the saddle grooves. So even the alleged “best” makers can produce basses that still require a shim.
