It's NOT EVEN been nine whole days since I bought any bass gear...
Deedee replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
Hi, my name’s DeeDee. It has been 3 days since I last purchased any bass gear - I’ve already got a sweat on 💦 😓 -
I don’t think I’ve ever played a bass set as ‘factory’ that I’ve felt entirely comfortable with. Always feels too high to me. A bit of minor tweaking suffices (usually straightening the neck to pretty much arrow straight and lowering the saddles to suit).

Beautiful 2015 US standard Precision in Olympic White with Tort plate and lovely dark rosewood neck. Purchased a few months back from Mr Zed of this very parish. The bass did have a metal/graphite nut fitted but during my ownership it’s had this replaced (to put it back to stock), a set up and a fresh set of 7250 strings fitted (all by a rather talented local luthier). I also replaced the plasticy knobs with proper solid flat top jobbies. EDIT - Straplock buttons shown in the photos but the original ones will be fitted back on prior to trade/sale. The bass is pretty much immaculate, plays and sounds great and comes complete with a Fender SKB Deluxe case (no keys). Weight - approx 8 1/4 lbs so reasonably lightweight. Sale preferred or trade for PDN or Ltd Edition model EBMM Sterling 4H, 4HS or 4HH plus cash your way Based in South Yorkshire I would prefer collection or meet up but will ship at buyers expense - UK only. Photos added. I’ve attached the link below to Mr Zed’s Original ad (hope you don’t mind Mr Z). I had a dealer call me back today ref my initial enquiry from a few weeks back for a Charcoal Sparkle 4HH. They said they were expecting a couple of HH models in over the coming weeks but the Charcoal Sparkle “wasn’t available in that configuration”. I should’ve offered to send him a photo of one 😂. However, the upshot is that dealers are obviously being told by Strings & Things that certain colour/model combinations are special order only.
-
Purely because I fell in love with how it played, how it sounded and I couldn’t bare to wait 9 months for the HH in this colour. Weak I know but, that’s pretty much how it happened. Now don’t get me wrong, in the future if someone out there found themselves in the exact polar opposite position ie they bought a 4HH but really wanted a 4H, I may well trade. But unless that happens, this bad boy’s going nowhere as I’m a very happy bunny 😁 Edit - Also just to add, I’ve only very recently been introduced to HH basses having recently picked up a EBMM Sterling 4HH. This comes after many years of having single pickup basses (including many Stingrays) so the thought of having just a H wasn’t entirely alien to me.
-
I must admit I was thinking of changing the plate on my EBMM Sterling 4HH. Same as the op’s colours at present ie black, rosewood, black plate 🤔 Replacements for the 4HH Sterling do seem a bit scarce though.

😂 That’s one way of putting it. No worries and no offence taken 👍

I’ll let you know how it goes Mart, taking it out Saturday. If we have anything in this neck of the woods I’ll give you a shout. You're right about the roasted necks, especially with ebony boards. They just feel special. I did try a maple one when I bought mine and although the same dimensions, roasted etc, it just didn’t feel as nice to me.
-
Although not figured, I wouldn’t say the necks are unattractive. I think they look great and feel even better.
-
I think so. Mine’s roasted and feels beautiful, but visually is not like the tiger striped effect that was on such as the PDN Neptune Blue models. There’s a hint of it but certainly not as striking.
-
Very true. In my experience it’s very unusual for an EBMM to not be top quality in terms of fit and finish. I’ve always found consistency of quality to be one of their major plus points. I’m thankful that mine is spot on.
-
Mine is noticeably lighter than my previous ‘rays (certainly a lot lighter than my Sterling) but I wouldn’t say I’d class it as ‘really light’. There are no string alignment issues with mine either. Really happy with it 😁

Bought a bridge from Nick. Great comms, prompt delivery. Trade with confidence! Many thanks again.

It certainly will for now, can’t wait to use it in anger. Actually, I did consider messaging you to see if I could prise your Starry Night off you 😁. As for justifying it I have no justification for it at all, not even to myself! Just pure unadulterated lust I’m afraid 😍
-
.........well, resistance proved futile. 😔 This thing looks great, sounds amazing and plays beautifully. I quickly came to the conclusion that I didn’t need a HH model. 😎
-
This is my predicament this very morning. I’m after a 4HH but don’t fancy the white or sunburst models currently available at Andertons, so I’m visiting a local store that only has 4H models in stock. Just for a look you understand 😃
