  1. Definitely. In my experience they seem to start out with the best intentions but then quickly become little more than a social gathering where the usual suspects are given a platform on which to inflate their already sizeable egos and share jokes with the in-crowd. I think it’s destined to happen as when these things start the organisers often rely heavily on such folk to get the thing going. Once it’s up and running, it can become a monster! Do I sound bitter??? 😂
  2. You never know, it could just be a matter of time. Just don’t tell the wife
  3. Good stuff. In all fairness an hour before visiting the shop I’d been fiddling with my MkIV Trace, so anything short of military grade would have felt less robust by comparison 😆
  4. Great review. I was looking at one of these combos today. Didn’t get chance to have a play but had a good look at it. My only initial thought/concern was whether the mini-toggle switches on the top and the tiny knobs on the back were robust enough for years of use. I’ll be very interested in your review in a live situation.
  5. Blimey, the current price of £320 is more than the new price isn’t it?
  6. I’ve posted this in the wanted section, but I just wondered if anyone here could help 😁 I’m missing a slider cap from my recently acquired MkIV AH250 GP11. I appreciate that these things are rarer than hens teeth so I’ve contacted British Audio and EMS but to no avail. If anyone has one kicking around in their spares drawer or knows where I may be able to obtain one, please give me a shout. These are the longer, slimmer type i.e. not the short rounded end type used on the later Series 6, SMX etc.
  7. That’s right. It’s a shame as there are some great amps effectively left abandoned because they’re attached to a hefty combo. Many people have just chopped the combo to create a head and disposed of the cab, or kept/reworked the cab and had it as a separate. If memory serves, I’m pretty sure a well known TE loving member on here had a couple of such cabs up for sale last year.
  8. My current lovely pair. A 1993 AH250 GP12 SMX and it’s earlier cousin, a mid-eighties MkIV AH250 GP11
  9. I took a SMX AH250 Head and fitted it into a Series 6 (narrow width) combo, then mounted the Series 6 amp into a std case. However, the ‘standard’ TE combos are wider and therefore the amp casing would need a fair bit of tinkering/cutting down to get it to fit into a std rack width. I’d be interested the seeing the results and what’s necessary to achieve it though 🤔
  10. Here for sale is my TecAmp Puma 900 in great condition, complete with official TecAmp bag with plenty of room for your mains and speakon cables. This is the 2nd generation 1U high version. Great tone, very powerful and very compact. 900 Watts @ 4 ohms 600 Watts @ 8 ohms So, why am I selling? Here goes......... I’m a self confessed Trace freak and now that I’m back to having a choice of 2 TE heads, this Puma is destined to remain as a rather extravagant back up to take to gigs and leave in the car. So I’m going to get myself something cheaper to leave under the car seat, safe in the knowledge that if the worst should happen and my Trace head fails, I’d only be using my ‘under the seat’ spare for the remainder of that particular gig with my other Trace ready to use for the next gig. Like most of us I suspect our ‘take to gig spares’ are very rarely or never used Thats the rather over elaborate theory anyway 😁 £460 includes shipping to the mainland Uk. UK buyers only please Collection or meet up possible, I’m in South Yorkshire May be interested in a trade/part ex for a Barefaced Big Baby II or Four10 (Ideally silver cloth)

😊 No worries Karl. Keep me posted.
  12. Just bought a Roqsolid cover from Martyn for my newly acquired MkIV Trace head. Item exactly as described, very quick delivery and great communication throughout. Many thanks again 👍
  13. This is what I was responding to ⬆️⬆️⬆️
  14. But it was a Peavey switch that I said was for Peavey era heads, that you said you used on your MkV ?
  15. Just going back to these later, Peavey era footswitches. I thought they had a multi-pin connector on them instead of a 1/4” jack?
  16. Haha. Should do the trick! I’m in the same boat at the moment i.e. no means of testing the DI in the gorgeous MkIV AH250 I recently picked up (until our next rehearsal). A mate has a small mixer that I should be able to borrow to hook up to see if there’s a signal.
  17. Ooh it’s a tricky one isn’t it? I’d like to think that after a couple of minutes refreshing the memory, I could play every song I’ve ever played but number wise??? 🤔
  18. Loving the Saab links. And just like Saabs, the older ones are the best (pre GM to be precise) solid, well built with plenty of oomph 😁
  19. Did the DI on this lovely SMX require a repair or was it ok?
  20. If it helps, 2u Trace heads fit great in these cases (and no doubt Ashdowns etc too). GLWTS
  21. Another happy buyer here 😁 Bought a large, old, heavy but oh so perfectly formed MkIV Trace Elliot AH250 from Loz. A wonderful piece of kit/bass history and possibly most silent running amp I’ve ever owned. Not bad for 30 + years old. Great communication throughout and a highly recommended BCer. Trade with confidence. Many thanks again
